There is a lot of subjective information about the performance of gaming GPUs in workstation applications and worksation GPUs in gaming on the internet, but not any hard data. Many workstation app users like to game and I am sure that many gamers use workstation apps either for hobby or professional use. The mixed-use segment has to choose between a gaming card or workstation card for their home rig.
Would you please, please help dispel the FUD on the subject and benchmark a selection of gaming and workstation cards under the exact same suite of both gaming and workstation benchmarks? Investigation into mixing worstation and gaming cards (under Lucidlogix's Virtu or another solution) would be a pleasant bonus.
I know arranging this is going to be a logistical challenge, but it would help many pick the best balance between work and play performance.
Perhaps you could build up a database by benchmarking all/most future card releases (workstation and gaming) under both types of applications and draw limited comparisons based on historical gaming/workstation card performance within the intended application type.
Thanks for reading.
