Hey guys, my name is Alexis and i joined the forums today. First of all let me tell you what a great forum this seems to be. I've been reading around a bit and this seems to be a great community.
I'm looking to go BYO for the first time within the next few months. Here's what i'm thinking of using. These parts pretty much max out my budget, i won't be adding any links or prices as i live in switzerland.

CPU AMD X2 3800+ Manchester
Motherboard Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Memory OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Platinum 2048MB CL2
Harddrive Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS
GPU Gigabyte GeForce 7800 GT
DVD Burner BenQ DL DW1640 DVD±RW Bulk
DVD Player Liteon SOHD-16P9S Grau Bulk
Floppy Sony Floppy 3.5" 1.44MB
PSU Seasonic S12 600 Watt
Case Coolermaster CAC-T05 Centurion 5

Mouse Razer Diamondback 1600 dpi Gamer-Mouse Plasma
Keyboard Logitech Media Keyboard Elite
Monitor Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20" widescreen LCD Monitor

Anything i should consider or definitly change? I did a lot of reading in forums as well as on various sites and hope that this is a solid rig. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time,
Alexis

Will you ever go SLI, i got that motherboard only to realise that i'd never go SLI and it was a waste of money (still love it to bits), the A8R-MVN is worth a look.

PSU is overpowered, 500W is plenty even if you do go SLI.

Nice choice on the DVD burners.

Looks good otherwise.

So the 500 Watt Seasonic S12 would be good enough even if i go SLI in the future?
I was thinking about the Opterons also, but they're not available in Switzerland at this time and they don't look to be anytime soon.

Yes, the 500W has the same fan controller as the 600W (the good one) and it's got enough juice to power the computer even with a notable overclock. I was going to get one myself but it was £5 more to get a 600W and for that money you might as well :)

I was also looking at this RAM:
OCZ, Gold-Series GX XTC, 2x1GB KIT, PC-4000

I'm not planning on overclocking right away, but i'm considering it in the future. What should i know about performance at DDR-400 and overclocked on the other hand?

You don't need to overclock the RAM to overclock the system, and overclocking the RAM does not bring huge performance in any way. I'd stick with the first option.
