Yup they bet everything they had on Rock Band 4 and music games ships sailed long ago. They lost hard on that.

didn't they make that MASSIVE battletech controller, at one point?

anyway, the rat was absolute garbage, there's no escaping that. and as seen in this image:
71UZCu9-95L._SX425_.jpg

they clearly went for that xXxG4m3rXxX420 look which i absolutely despise. and, it turns out, so does everyone over the age of 15.
their products were just not good, man. you need to make good stuff if you want to make money.

I'm surprised they stayed in business so long. They made inferior products, if anything, they helped justify the price tag of OEM controllers.

The ONLY quality thing they made were the arcade sticks when SF4 came out. And the only reason they were good is because they used real japanese arcade parts and not their own shitty parts. The $200 Xbox One Killer Instinct TE2 joystick is the most solid joystick (other than custom ones) I've ever seen and it was worth every penny. I no longer use that one anymore though because I modified my PS3/360 joystick to work with X1/PS4/360/PS3.

Other than those, they have made nothing but complete and utter shit for the most part. I remember having a PSX memory card of their back in the day that stored 8x more than the normal ones, and that shit erased my saves like 3x before I threw it in the trash.

I think I have some Mad Catz pci slot fan blowers. They pushed a lot more air than others.

I had a couple of their GCN controllers, I liked those. Bought more than my fair share of Rock Band instruments (yeah, I'm one of those weirdos that still plays it).

yup. that's the one.
I don't think they made the Steel Batallion cockpit controller. I have a couple of those and it's better quality than typical MadCatz stuff. Capcom made the game, so they'd probably commission HORI or ASCII to make it.

What ever happened with the HOTAS setup they were going to sell for Star Citizen's release?

I remember my mother telling me once when I was a kid that there's basically no difference between generic and name brand products. I was like "NU UH! What about MAD CATZ?!"

She was like WTF is a mad cat?

I think the only generic controller I ever purchased was a saitek, which wasn't terrible. It mostly worked, until it didn't.

I think Mad Catz's biggest downfall is that it never really escaped its old reputation. As mentioned earlier in the thread, they got a bit better when they started introducing their quality fight sticks, but if you mentioned "Mad Catz" to any gamer in their late 20s or early 30s, I'm pretty sure they'll remember owning one of the controllers or having that poor friend who always brought the crappy Mad Catz controller over. :p In the end, you never wanted to be the person that got stuck with the crummy Mad Catz controller.

The controls were made by Sammy.

If I remember right I have a Mad Catz PS2 controller. Shame that the Saitek brand won't be no more. A lot of Flight Simers are going to be disappointed. Now there's just CH Products. I have both their pedals and yoke.

That vid was funny! About sums it up. LOL!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. They are selling off their assets. Saitek is one of their assets. It may have a buyer. This happened way back when with Razer.
