GameTZ is now FREE

I have been a paying member of GameTZ, the Game Trading Zone, for years. Just today removed the fees and opened up the site. Considering the cost has been $5 for 2 months, this is a fairly warm deal for what you get. The best part of the site (besides the forums) is the item/offer system. You list your games available for sale and ones you want and it matches you up. You can then send an offer and negotiate, or just post what you want/have in the forums. I am a big NES collector and have purchased many, many games from this site, as well as sold some doubles. They have something for all systems. Check it out, I'm glad I stumbled across it.

Haven't used Gametz in years! I don't remember ever paying a fee--was that a recent change?

I always liked the name of that site. Gametz=gametes 😛

Site is kind of hard to use. It would be easier if sellers would put an estimated price for how much they want.

I used this site for years until he started charging the subscription fee a couple years ago. That's when I quit. I recieved an email in the mail yesterday where he stated he was dropping the fee because it was hard getting new subscribers and he as "actually" losing members..DUH...I wasn't surprised.

It was great site and hopefully will be again now that he has gotten rid of the subscription fee.

IOW, it was a great site to leech on. Not that I'm complaining, I was one of the leechers and I also jumped ship when he started charging. Too many ad-supported free sites to pay for something like this.

They are *supposed* to, but usually put "unsure." It's never wise to show your cards first, I guess.

Just an update since the first time I posted this topic. There have been many people who have joined and it has breathed new life into the boards. There is more trading than ever. If you haven't checked it out in a while or haven't updated your list, you should do so. I know my matches have increased 100 fold since the site went free.

Best of luck!

Just curious.

Well unlike ebay, you can trade items in addition to buying and selling.

Exactly, it is more about trade. But also, if you just want to buy and sell, there are no fees on top of everything. The best part is that on eBay, you buy what they list. On this board, it's more dynamic and you can ask for additional items and work out packages, then save on shipping. Ebay is great, too, so think if this as a suppliment.

If you take the time to input what you have for trade and what you want, you can see your matches and offer with one click. Also, it will email you when someone adds one of your 'Wants' to their "Available." It's pretty nice for free.

Same here - I remember using the site all the time around 1997-1998 or so. Had forgotten about it for years until I saw this post!

Great post 🙂 I also used to use gametz until they started charging subscription fees. Was the best place to sell/trade games and movies. I might check it out again.

I used to use it, but thought it was a little bit clumsy in some ways. I quit when they started charging and when USPS priority mail went up from under $3 to $3.85. Also seems like I got a couple undeserved negative feedbacks so I got mad. 🙂
