Gamestop, craigslist or pawnshop?

I've decided to get rid of my 360, kinnect, games, and accessories. It's just taking up space and I figure it's time to get a bit of cash before the xbone comes out.

I'm not looking to sell this stuff online and I'm not going to go into what I've got, but in general when selling stuff like this does gamestop give reasonable cash value for the products or is it better to shoot for craigslist or a pawnshop?

Better to sell yourself direct to the other buyer, eg: ebay, craigslist, etc. Any resellers are going to lowball you so they can turn around and resell it for 3x what they paid you.

If you are wanting to put it towards a new console, Gamestop might actually be a decent option if they have any promo's going on. If they don't you could wait or Craigslist might be your best bet. Pawnshops will look at ebay prices and slash that price a fair bit for your offer.

gamestop can have really good promotions with tradeins sometimes. i remember i got $160 for a 3rd gen ipod touch after owning it for like 2 years. i think i paid like $200 for it lol. but it was because of some promo they were running on tradein.

i'd personally probably go that route, if i was buying a new console with the money. either that or toss it in the forums on here. i'd 100% skip ebay, and craigslist is more of a hassle than anything with all the morons who are on it.

I agree if you want the most money ebay, craigslist would be best. There is more work involved there though. Research completed ebay auctions to see what type of price bundles like yours go for, then take a picture of all the stuff you have and post it up on Craigslist to see if you can get around that price. I'd prefer selling it there first since there's no fees and you get cash. Not sure if there's much of a market for 360 bundles now though, so you may find yourself not getting any offers or getting lowball offers.

Maximum money: craigslist (but also most work, need to weed out lowballers).
Quickest sale: Gamestop (but likely to get least amount of money).
Middle of both: eBay (probably more money than Gamestop, but definitely less than craigslist, have to wait 7 days but you are far less likely to deal with idiots).

Since you're thinking about selling this far in advance, I'd start with craigslist. eBay if that fails. Only go Gamestop if they do a promotion.

IIRC, Gamestop only does store credit. Could be wrong since it's been years since I traded anything in.

Craigslist around here is dead. I posted two great-condition complete 360s (one 20GB, one 60GB), tested with pics and video of them running for $50 each, and zero responses.

I don't know what model you have but I traded in a four gig slim and they gave me 95 my buddy traded in a 250 gig slim they gave 135 in store credit with no promotions for just the system cables and controller.

Craigslist is such a hassle, I'd wait till gamestop runs a special again or sell it on the forum much easier

I think I'm just going to dump it on gamestop. I really don't care about getting the exact highest price, I just want to make sure I'm not getting really ripped off.

I'm not planning on buying a next gen console I've just reached a point in my life where I'm not gaming anymore.

if you are looking for cash you aren't going to get squat from gamestop. their "trade in value" is for store credit. i think cash is like 40% less than the trade in value or something like that. at least it used to be something like that.

you may want to check amazon too, they have decent trade in deals.

If you don't mind shipping, name a price, I might be interested. My 360 got struck by lightning 2 weeks ago.

Yeah I put up a listing of a bundle of games. Granted, without a system, so I wasn't expecting much. I got one response from someone wanting a single game that I later learned was somewhat rare and decided to keep it. Haven't even gotten a single lowball offer on the bundle (which I probably would have taken anyway).

At this point you may as well hold onto them since you won't get any money. Or donate, or trade in to GameStop in exchange for some pocket lint and a bologna sandwich. Maybe do some completed item searches on eBay to see if any of the games you have are worth more than $5, and just sell those individually. Bundle the rest together for a stupidly low price.

I also have one working and one broken 360. Not worth fixing the broken one at this point, used ones are so cheap. I brought it to a shop and the guy quoted $100 to "reball" the GPU, and said that it still wouldn't necessarily work because the RAM could be faulty as well.

I've been doing some eBay selling recently, and it's not too bad. I sold my partial-BC PS3 on eBay for about $180. I probably could've gotten a little more if I held out, but I'm not going to fret over $10-20. I also sold my used copy of Blops 2 for $34 (shipped) and I paid $30 for it new. :p

You can sell broken 360s on eBay, or remove the good parts (like the DVD drive) and sell those instead. Heck, the latter is probably what people do when they buy the broken 360s! :p

Yeah you get zero promotions if you do cash at GameStop and they knock 20% off the value. Not worth it for that. Gamestop takes broken systems too but again they knock off a lot and then you take the hit cause you want cash. You will end up with hardly anything. I only recommend GameStop when you are buying something new and they have a 30% extra value promo. I traded my Xbox 360 toward a Xbox one and got 30% extra + 10% for my power up reward membership + 15% for having renewed my rewards membership and using a promo code at the store. So I ended up getting a lot more than I would get normally and no hassle selling and shipping it. I sold my wiiu outright for about $100 more than GameStop would give me. I did that because the wiiu is still somewhat new and I had the zombieu bundle which is more popular (quicker to sell). The 360 is too common to try selling, even my halo 4 edition. Would have had too many not serious/low ball offers.

Sell it on the forums here or list it on eBay or something. You will end up better off in terms of return.

Everyone is or soon will be selling so there is almost no value in a system now; don't expect much!

I was actually rather surprised to see how well consoles sell on eBay. I mean... I understand why I was able to sell my partial-BC PS3 for a modest amount (~$180), but I didn't expect an old 360 to be worth $60-80.

If you sign up for gamestop's poweruprewards subscription for $15, they put a coupon on your account 24-48 hours after you activate it online. +50% credit for total trade in.

That's what I did when I traded my 360.
