I recently purchased a Gainward 128MB G4 Ti200, and installed Windows XP. Games have been significantly darker since installing these, especially in low light situations. I have directly compared it with my old setup, and the difference is very noticable.

Im running the latest Nvidia drivers. The brightness in game and on my monitor is at max. I have also tried increasing gamma settings from the gainward control panel in windows, however this seems to have no affect on games. When i return to windows from a game, the gamma has reset itself to default anyway?

Any ideas whats causing it?

Thanks for the help

I have the same problem with any graphics card I try so I think its the monitor. I use Power Strip to adjust the color settings for games.

Video cards do vary in their output level. I once had a card that was barely bright enough for the monitor I was using. I had to turn the brightness
control to max.

XP may have it's own monitor profile, which may be affecting this, I don't know.

When I used to use the gamma controls in the video driver, they stayed during the game. Some games have a brightness setting
hidden away in the video settings.

Some monitors have a setting to adjust the input voltage on a menu. "Video Input Level" on mine. It can be .7 or 1 volt .

Use RivaTuner's low level colour gamma adjustment and it'll stop games flicking over to darker settings when you launch them.
