I posted this thread out of pure curiosity.

I should have titled this thread "Gaming at 35,000 feet" but whatever ... I have 4 flights totaling almost 5,000 miles coming up this week. I was wondering what other part-time road warriors play while sitting in that thing called a "seat" (usually in coach) while trying to make time pass.

If you are kind enough to post ... please list what laptop/netbook you have and if it plays well.

I thank you ...

Game: "Find the bomb."

Descrition: It's the game that the whole plane can play together.

Platform: Arbitrary.

Get Civ 4. That'll keep you occupied the whole time.

Any 4x/turn based game would be perfect imo. Slower paced thinking games.

That's a creative way of me avoiding this trip ... I like it. I'll look into Civ 4, thanks.

depends on the room you have. A netbook might not be small enough if if cattle class.

If the game needs sound, you will either need headphones or go without (playing sound normally will not be liked by others).

If using a phone, then it needs to be able to turn off the wifi broadcasting.

Personally, a phone based game would not keep me interested long enough. A netbook might have options, but I perfer a mouse for most of my games and touch pads suck. I would get a book or a ebook for the phone (and reader).

Any game that can be comfortably played with keyboard-only. I suggest Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. It's a very addictive game that involves running an item shop, going dungeon diving for items, ripping off customers, etc, etc. I'm not usually a fan of JRPGs but Recettear's pretty fun. :)

i see that this thread was taken care of in the 1st post.

the nice thing about civ 4 is that it's old enough to run on just about anything new, certainly anything with non-intel graphics (and SB probably runs it fine).

My travel game of choice is Fallout / Fallout 2.

It will play on anything and doesn't require any sort of fast reflexes.

Turn-based games are pretty much a requirement for airplane laptop gaming.

Terraria
Sins of a Solar Empire
Company of Heroes
Fallout 1 & 2
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne

Another tip that I found worked for me while traveling was a wireless trackball. These are great in tight / uneven spaces.

Have a great flight. And don't check your laptop ;-)
