What will be the first game that will fully utilize all the benefits of DirectX 9.0? I know that a lot of the games now require DX9 and make you install it because it uses some of it, but what game will finally use it all? I've heard HL2 will use it but I don't think that's true.

Doom 3 is the only one that I can think of; if it even does use all of dx9. Does anyone know the first one?

A little rusty with the specifics of DX9 games.

ok perhaps not fully but partly because it uses shaders,

Doom III won't even need DX8 so badly. It will run on DX7 cards, too, and probably no DX9-only features will be implemented.
I don't even know of pixel shading (DX8).

what I'm saying is not if the game uses only Directx 9, but does any game use ALL of directx 9's capabilities? I know that a few games use the shaders...and maybe some physics implemented in DX9, but doesn't use everything that dx9 has to offer. What game will use it all?

There's a hell of a lot of features in DX9, the chances are that no game will use all of them at any given time in the forseeable future. The whole point of DX9 is to give developers more headroom with pixel and vertex shaders and room to experiment a bit.

last time i checked Doom 3 isnt a directx game, it is an opengl based game like many other ID games. so im pretty sure it wont take full advantage of all dx9 has to offer. HL2 will use alot and many other games have used shaders and directx technology. Splinter Cell did if i remember correctly
