Games that help better yourself?

Do the Brain Age games help work out the grey matter in my skull?

Are they both worth getting? I assume Brain Age 1 & 2 both offer different levels of games and such. What about the other Brain games?

What games that help better one self? Doesn't matter what system....So like portable or console.

I would ask about PC as well but I have to make a thread in PC Gaming to ask about any PC games.

Do people who play any of these type of games believe it helps? Got any stories?

If you enjoy crossword puzzles, brain teasers and the like then the Brain Age games can be fun. If you don't, well I wouldn't suggest them. The science behind whether or not they make you smarter/more resistant to brain deterioration is questionable at best.

My wife plays them all the time (on DS and on the Wii). She definitely saw an improvement over time.

Brain Age was fun until I could consistently keep up 20 for a couple weeks. Great times though.

It's pretty fun for some fairly quick puzzle gaming.

Brain age was pretty lame. It is one of my few regretted video game purchases.

For a puzzle game, I recommend Picross.

Some of you are going to laugh at me but it increased my math skills since it was so long that I've really used them other than simple adding/subtracting. It really did help me and I brought my DS to work and we had tournaments on who could pass the math challenges the fastest during lunch. It really did help me making my math much quicker.

Dude most people have shit math skills. So if a game was able to help you, then awesome.

Most people get hooked with using a Calculator.......Look at Fast Food cash registers.....How many people do you know that are good at Math?

So no one is gonna laugh at you.
