OK, guys, I need your help here. For a couple of weeks now, when playing FPSs - Call of Duty and Day of Defeat mostly, things will start up fine, but after a couple of minutes the game stops for about 20 seconds, playing the same sound over and over again. This will happen every 5 minutes or so. It will come back out of a "freeze" and play normal until about five minutes later....and so on

I use a relatively old computer P4 1.6, 512 SDRAM, Transcend 9600 Pro

I think I have the latest drivers installed - Cat 4.3 or 4.4

I do not overclock.

I did not have this problem before, even when I was using an old Hercules 3D Prophet II 32 MMX card that was a couple of years old.

I found that if I took off the side of my case and laid the tower down open, it temporarily solved the problem, but that's not working now. I thought maybe it was an airflow problem. My vid card is not running to hot, but my processor I can feel a lot of heat from.

Anyone have ideas on what I can do to stop this? Thanks in advance.

I am not using high settings really, and do not utilize AA and AF (at least not that I know of). I will try the fan thing, bnut if that works, it still would suck to have to open my case and have a fan blow on things when I want to play a agme. If it is a heat ptoblem, I can't figure out why it didn't do it before, when I had a much crappier vid card that had no fan.

Could it have something to do with my power supply? I guess a 9600 Pro would require more than my old 32 MB card, huh?
