Not enough space on interior drives for games. Have a 60GB USB 2.0 exterior to load games......will there be problems?

System

Abit KR7A-133 Raid
Amd Athlon XP 2000+
Thermaltake Volcano 7
768 Megs Kingston PC 3200 (400 Mhz.)
Ati Radeon 9600 XT - 128 Megs

There shouldn't be any technical issues. Performance-wise, there may be some slowdown because you're trafficking data over USB during gameplay. That could eat up CPU cycles.

it'll eat up cycles and it won't transfer data across the bus as quickly....it might take a little longer loading the game or when the game demands info off the hdd, which isn't too often during gameplay (level changes/transitions, etc.)

it should be ok - try it out.

I don't know much about USB 2.0 hard drives aside from my iPod, but it's firewire. I get 10mb/sec typically on it, which is about 1/3 the speed of a decend hard drive IIRC. I would suggest against putting your games on the USB drive; can't you put your MP3 collection on it instead? Or your documents? Just about anything other than games and vital applications would be a much better idea for an external hard drive IMO.
