Games needed for an internet cafe.

One of my friends runs an internet cafe with some pentium 4 computers with radeon 9800 video cards.

My friend asked me to get a couple of games that could run on those computers. The games must be simple enough for a user to come and play right away without spending too much time figuring out the controls or anything like that.

What are some games that could attract customers?

On Radeon 9800s? Half-Life 2 runs great on those. Neverwinter Nights 1, Left 4 Dead 1 should run well. Maybe set up some Madden tournaments, which should run on lower settings.

WoW. Every internet cafe I've seen has had virtually everyone playing an MMO, and WoW is by far the most popular one.

I guess it might have trouble running on such old hardware, but try messing with the settings a bit.

Also, Counter-Strike Source, Battlefield 2, and Quake/Unreal Tournament games are extremely popular and will run on older hardware.

Original. I quit right before the first expansion came out.

Yea, TBC would play pretty poorly on a 9800pro. WotLK would absolutely crush it; might not even beable to load the game. They've done some decent updating to the game with each expansion.

bigfish games.

Counterstrike is also a good one to have that will run on almost anything, same with warcraft3, and starcraft.

Warcraft 3 + TFT is a big hit in all the internet cafes down here in Australia. Make sure you get that!

Heroes of Newerth is a stand alone version of the DoTA used map settings games from WC3. Still in beta version but I've seen it in a few internet cafes.

He could also load up free games, for example:

C&C/Red Alert
Ground Control
Mech Commander 2
Allegiance

TF2 and WoW are NOT going to run well on these computers.

Also, a lot are too complicated (don't want to spend too much time figuring controls).

How about the "casual" type games like peggle (takes no time in picking up and is fun) and plants vs zombies.

Just make sure your not breaking any laws by installing the same game on multiple computers or such since your friend could in trouble for doing that.

Even if you have a seperate game for each computer you will often need a separate game license to run them at a place like that for commercial purposes and those can cost a tidy sum.
