I have just finished playing Thimbleweed Park, the latest adventure by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. I decided to play this game more than three years after it was released, and I really enjoyed it, much more than most recent adventures.
I would like recommendations of similar games. I decided to start this thread so I could get non-obvious recommendations, as I have seen in all forums I visited so far. I am not exactly a beginner at adventure games. I have played all Lucas Arts games for countless hours, so Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle or Full Throttle are far from being news to me. I have some mixed feelings about Sierra adventure games, but some of them are good as well. I tried adventures by Telltale Games, and some of them are good, but the more recent ones abandoned the puzzle-solving in favor of being just interactive stories (which I am not looking for). It would be great to try newer games, but I am not searching for the style of The Witcher or Assassin's Creed, as they do not qualify as point-and-click classic adventure games.
I would like adventure games that would fit in these:
1. A point-and-click graphic adventure game;
2. Third-party point of view;
3. Great story and atmosphere;
4. Good interface and controls;
5. Good game design;
6. No open world;
7. Not easy to die;
8. Not an obvious recommendation.
Any suggestion? Thanks.
