Monotonous clickfests? There's a few out there, and a few more on the horizon. Hellfire:London, the "Diablo 3", for its not out yet.

If you want a good dungeon crawl RPG game, try the IWD games. You actually have to think a little before you enter a battle, instead of speed clicking. Visually, they are pretty dated though.

It's a little old, but I had a good time playing Nox and Darkstone. They are pretty similar to D2. I'm waiting for something new, too. I just prefer the D2 style of games.

DS2 does look pretty good, too. I had a good time messing around with the demo.

I'm not a huge RPG gamer, but I think IWD=Icewind Dale

No not the official but it suppose to be like it and some of the D2 creators are working on it. However its from a first-person view. Looks awesome though.


As far as to the OP, yeah there are a couple but I know what you mean... the problem with most of them even if they are somewhat like it is that they don't have the item and multiplayer aspect that is huge to D2.

played the demo and i couldn't get into it. i liked the 1st dungeon siege though.

Sacred is the closest game to Diablo, and it seems to be missing something that made Diablo good. Nothing else out there really comes close. Hellgate:London will though, just as soon as it's finished. The gameplay videos seem to show they are coming across nicely.

I played Diablo II for 4 years and I can say that no game was better than D2 in it's prime.

I tried to play Guild Wars for 2 months... it was HORRIBLE. I didn't even WANT to level up for some reason.. There is no ladder.. The PVP system is fvcked up, the duels are just sh!t compared to D2..

Diablo II doesnt have jaw dropping graphics, but it has that Dark Gothic type of artistic graphics and themes that really made me enjoy the game.

If you haven't played Nox, get that definately. Awesome game.

A more modern hack n slash is Sacred. Pretty decent game but the "grind" factor is pretty bad.

Just to clarify something, Hellgate London, while designed by the ex Blizzard North guys (Diablo team) is nothing like Diablo. It's a FPS/RPG hybrid. FPS style with leveling up, etc. Graphics were very sub par for the current FPS level out (at least in the demos they've released) but the gameplay looks like it could be pretty cool.

Thanks for clarifying that. I saw some screenshots for the game and thought it didn't look like the top down view of D2.

Guild Wars is nothing like D2. I own both and I still prefer D2 to GW in all aspects but graphics, which really doesn't matter since the gameplay of GW is so lacking. A friend of mine has been playing silkroadonline a lot lately and says it's really good, but they aren't taking sign ups for it anymore.
