EDIT: Accidentally put into GH... Sorry.

I have two computers (1 dual xeon 2.66GHz, 1 Opty 148) plugged into a 3Com OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch. I have a USR printer server, CableOne cable internet, and the gigabit switch is plugged into a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL router.
When I have both computers plugged into the gigabit router, games and internet are noticeably lagging. When I disconnect my machine (dual Xeon one) and plug it into the router, the lag goes away.

I'm going to try to update the firmware on the router (the gigabit LAN does not have a firmware upgrade that I could find). Please let me know if you have any suggestions, etc. Thanks.

EDIT: I updated the firmware on the router, and there was no change.

EDIT: The lag no longer goes away when the server is plugged into the router vice the gigabit switch. I've contacted my ISP to ask WTF. I'm researching new ISPs now...

Is the Linksys set up as a DHCP server or are you manually assigning the IP, subnet, etc for each computer? How about the print server, does it have it's own IP?

Hmmm, I had a similar problem and one of my computers had the same IP as another which caused a conflict. Releasing and renewing solved the problem for that but not quite sure what is causing your problem. Does only unplugging the Xeon help or does it matter what you unplug to stop the lag?

Well, it seems that it helped when the server (my machine) was plugged into the router vice the switch, but it doesn't seem to make a difference now. At this point, it seems to be at the ISP level, so I contacted them to see if there were any current network issues.
