Hi, this is my first time posting on these fourms so I do not know if this is the right place for this, but here goes. I just put together a system about a month ago and I have been getting artifacts and flickering in games. This has been going on for some time now and I have ran out of ideas. I had a GeForce 5900 before, and recently upgraded to a 6600 GT AGP, I have the beta drivers 67.03 for it, as some people have had the same issues. The games run fine, no slowdowns of any sort, just the flickering and artifacts. I was wondering if you guys could provide some help. These are my system specs:

CPU: AMD 64 3200+ (Socket 939)
Running at 2.1 GHZ Voltage at 1.6
OS: MS XP Pro, Service Pack 2
Memory: 2x Corsair CMX512 PC3200 Running at 2-2-2-5
Video Card: Geforce 6600 GT AGP 515/1000
Thermalright Heatsink XP-90
MB: Asus A8V Rev 2
Antect PS: 400W
SB Audgiy 2 ZS
HD: WD Raptor 74GB Running in Raid 0

I have 4 Case fans, 1 up top, 2 in front, 1 in back, CPU is running at 34 Degrees Celcius, Video Card running at 40 Degrees Cecius, Temp in case is 65 Degrees Farenheight. Card was overclocked, unclocked it, its now at 500/1000 and still having these issues. Was having them with the GeForce 5900 my current video card replaced. Also when I load windows, the screen flickers a few times before window's finshes loading.

Tried taking out a stick, still no go, everything set to default now, CPU running at 2GHZ now, memory running at 3-3-3-8@ 200 MHZ. Tried this with both the GeForce 6600 GT and the GeForce 5900, no go. Any more suggestions?

if it does it with both video cards see if you can find a pci video card and try that. If that is the issue the agp slot is screwed up. I actually had that issue one time.

Tried it with a 5200 PCI, still no go, everything set to default, still get artifacts, and flickers. Anyone know what the settings should be at the AGP port in the BIOS? As in voltage and aperture size, etc.?

What games are they? Some games have had graphic bugs with Nvidia cards that cause flicker and require an update to fix the problem.
But more likely you should:
Get the latest WHQL certified drivers from Nvidia 66.93 http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_66.93
Run the dxdiag utility to see if it is a DirectX problem.

can be bad RAM - try to go 33 MHz low on bus and mem
also.. some times case can be not in line - try to take VidCard out and put back, but don't screw it in
while u r playing - turn all utilities OFF, even MB one

good luck

Memmory running at DDR333 instead of DDR400 now, and I have the lastest WHQL certified drivers from Nvidia. Halo doesn't seem to be having any problems now, the game runs fine, just the main menu screen goes to a black background instead of the rotating Halo. I am now trying to run WoW, this game seems to be giving me the most amount of problems, with flickering/artifacts and such. My old notebok, P4 1.8 GHZ, a GeForce MX440 Go 64 MB ram, and 512 MB of ram runs the game fine, it just doesn't look all the great. Will post my results.

No more flickering in WoW but it appears the game keeps crashing for random reasons, thats the only game now that I am having issues with, trying to work these out now.
