Previously I posted how my games of NWN kept giving me BSOD's. Well I upped my virtual memory since it was really low and the problem seemed to go away. Now other games like EVE Online and the Medal of Honor demo keep spitting me out to desktop. No error message, just a clean crash.

Barton 2500+
Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
1 gb of Buffalo Memory
120 gb Hitachi Hard Drive
Hercules MuseXL
Geforce 6800GT with 61.77 drivers

Have you run dxdiag ?

You can check temps (cpu and system) and voltage rails of psu with Motherboard Monitor 5 (free for d/l). Set up the sys log thingy (on lower left of mbm5 settings screen), it will record a log of temps and volts. After crash etc, go into the text log and have a look.

Why was it low? Did you play with the settings or something?

No my roommate did. Also I'm now getting graphical corruption and dots on the screen. One of the BSOD's said something about NV4_disp.dll or something.

might want to test your ram with Memtest.

Also, make sure none of your case fans are busted. Could be your system is overheating for some reason.

Use Driver Cleaner to completely remove all traces of your video drivers, then reinstall. If you're still getting errors/crashes, run Memtest86.

So what are your current VM settings? You should just set it to something you know is gonna work, since HD space isn't much of an issue these days. Also, any overclocking?? Tends to be the big culprit of instability.

Well VM has been back to its default settings for a while now, and I still got the screen dots, and BSOD's related to NVIDIA and my sound card. I tried installing new Nforce drivers, Direct X 9.0c and new Detonator Drivers so we'll see if it happens again.

I'm going to try everything I can first without having to resort to that, I have too much stuff to back up. All this started happening a month ago when I added my new graphics card, power supply and memory so I'm betting it has to do with hardware.

The first thing I'd be doing is running an overnight RAM test and then I'd be checking the PSU.

- Are all the settings in the BIOS defaulted and not overclocked? Are you sure?

- Are you overclocking anything at all? (videocard?) Did youre roommate maybe screw around here w/o you knowing?

- These corruptions seem to be RAM related, or ever CPU related (L2 cache?). Can you swap out parts to see if there is something wrong there? Are you using two sticks of memory? If so, take one out and run it for 24 hours or until is crashes again. Then, switch sticks. Try to narrow down the issue.

Sounds like overheating issues and it is possible that the damage has already been done sort-a-speak. I should know, I lost a video card, motherboard, and cpu all in the same pc to overheating. Same problems as you, I'd get errors about dlls from my video card / sound card / crashes to desktop / etc.

Thanks for the replies. I'm ruling out heating since my pc is like a wind tunnel. Will try Memtest86 tonight.

Here's what memtest brough up after about 6 hours.

TST 5
PASS 5
FAILING ADDRESS 00000021AB0
FAILING ADDRESS 00000071798
GOOD 01000000
BAD 01800000
ERR BITS 00800000

I'm not sure how to decipher this but it looks like something is bad. What other tests can I try?

Now do what I said. Take out one of ths sticks, run for a few hours. Swap sticks, run for a few hours. Look for which one is crashing the system, just to make sure memtest is right. Then, whichever stick is in the system and crashing, you know which one the problem child is.
