So, I just got a new monitor that I hooked up yesterday. Everything seems to work fine, except for when I try to play games. Fortnite crashes during loading. It doesn't even fully load, but the crash doesn't give me any information at all whatsoever.

I did just get a new monitor yesterday, but I also did try to use an autoclicker recently for an app I have, but it didn't work out as I intended and I have since deleted it. Unfortunately, since both changes happened within the last 24hrs, I can't be sure which one is the culprit, but definitely one or the other, because things were fine before that.

I tried disconnecting the new monitor, but it still crashes. So, if it is an issue with getting a new monitor, it's some problem with the settings for the monitors and the changes I made conflicting with them. But, not sure where to go to remove any unnecessary files that may be left from the old monitor. In device manager, all I see under "monitors" is two "Generic PnP Monitor". I have two monitors, so makes sense, but not sure why it's just both listed as "generic".

I scanned my computer for anything malicious that may have been installed with the autoclicker, but I'm not seeing anything. It was rsclient from garyshood.com, which doesn't seem to be a problem.

I use Windows 10, and the new monitor is AOC 27G15 27" Gaming Monitor, Full HD 1920x1080, 180Hz 1ms.

Another thing... seems like I'm having issues with other graphics as well. I just went to open a word document to look up my graphics card to post here, and there were artifacts all over the word document.

I have no idea what to do here, but my sons live a long ways away, and one of our ways of enjoying time together is playing Fortnite, so I need to fix this asap. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nevermind, I got it working right again.

For anyone else that might have this issue... for some reason, I had to go into NVIDIA control panel and reset the settings in there. Not sure why, but I figured couldn't hurt to try to reset graphics settings since nothing else seemed to be working. Did that, restarted the computer, working fine now. Loaded up Fortnite no problem, word docs are displaying fine again, etc.

Not sure if there might still be clutter on my PC though because of the old monitor and any remaining files, but not sure where I'd go to clean those up (if that's even the case)?

Installing a monitor shouldn't install anything on Windows, unless you installed some monitor utility/drivers from the monitor manufacturer's website. That autoclicker may have been the culprit. Best never to try iffy software on your main PC. I found this the very hard way by trying to help a friend figure out why a certain media file wasn't working. Installed something like Kmedia player (dont remember exactly) and the dang installer came with a bunch of malicious payloads. I think within a week my credit card got hacked too after using it on that PC. Used all kinds of antimalware software to scan the PC but nothing was found. To this day, I want to do a deep analysis of that PC to figure out where the malicious hooks were placed in the Win7 OS but don't know which software is best for that (malwarebytes didn't find anything).

For the time being, check Add/Remove programs in your Windows Settings and see if there is something odd there and remove that.
