System: gigabyte GA-K8NNXP
amd64 3200
1g geil 3200 ddr400
audigy 2 zs
fx5200 (waiting for delivery of 6800ultra)
power supply Hyena 500W ATX Power Supply (I dont know the amps but here is the site to the power supplys specs:
http://www.vivid-computers.co.nz/products/...productid=11890

Found the specs sheet:
http://www.apextechusa.com/datasheet/ATX500W.pdf

My games Battlefield 1942 and Doom 3 crash to desktop or freeze and I have to reboot. I get about 5 -10 mins before the game gives up.
It is not the drivers, soundcard or video card as I have tried different video cards, run the game without the soundcard and used the latest drivers.

Could it be the power supply? I never thought of that. How can I tell what my Power supply is running at in amps?
I belive a power supply must run have at least 18amps to power an amd 64

Suggestions anyone. .
Cheers

Move your RAM into other slots.

This solved the very same problem for me.

I checked your spec sheet. Looks like 20amps to me (on the 12v rail)

Ony 1 dvd rom, 1 floppy......I'm pretty sure a 500w 20amp power supply should be able to run this baby.

One guys suggested I update the AGP bus drivers, another thinks its a temp/voltage problem.
Another said move the ram to different slots.

Running out of ideas now. Oh and the mobo is fine I had it checked when I sent it back to the distributor.

I'm starting to think new motherboard.

When you do this, and then need to reboot, does it put a minidump file in c:\windows\minidump? Or does it just take you to the desktop, and you choose to reboot for speed reasons?

If the first, please follow my dump guide (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=32&threadid=1359897&highlight_key=y&keyword1=general%20windows), do all the updates and such, and then send me the mps reports and cab file.
