First off. Im a hardcore gamer. Play Everquest and waiting for SWG. I wanted in my system around a 1.5 gig processor atleast . 512 ram and atleast a 64 geforce TI 4600. (This video card needs HARDware T/L technology). regular cd and burner. (Im a patient man so no top speed). A silent system is not nessary because the A/C here cools the downstairs mostly. So i have a very loud fan running in my room. So i hear it over the rig. Im looking at the provided AnandTech guide to a rig for gameing. The monitor seems a little steep. im looking to spend around a 200 dollar monitor. Gameing is all i do so thats what this rig will be used for. Just to give you some info. Here is the link to the rig im looking at.

Looks like a nice rig to me for gaming.

The vid card is Ti4200 64MB, if possible I would go for the 128MB card, unless you plan to upgrade to the NV30 within the year.
Some people might tell you to get a sound card, course you can add one any time.

That rig looks decent, but I'd make a few suggestions:

Get a 80GB WD 'SE' 8MB Cache version, which is FAR faster than 2MB cache HDDs.
Get an EPoX 8K5A2 from MWave.com
Get an Athlon XP 1.4GHz (1600) and OC it to ~1.8GHz
If your monitor budget is ~$200 then get a 17" flatscreen from NEC or Samsung (Make sure its an Aparture Grill instead of a Shadow Mask CRT)
Get a Lite-On CD-RW
If you're going to be upgrading your card again in 6-9 months, then you could probably get away with a 64MB card, but if you plan on keeping it for longer than that then you're definitely gonna want a 128MB card, and probably one that supports DX9, in which case I'd suggest that you might be better off waiting a month and getting a Radeon 9700 (non-pro) which should trounce the Ti4600 at a bit over $200.

So you won't be purchasing your system until after Christmas? Things will easily change a LOT between now and then, especially in the video card industry.

In my yellow pages its listed computer parts suppliers retail or something like that, but in most cases you should be able to find better deals online, even with shipping included (especially since a lot of items have free shipping at places like newegg and googlegear). Btw, what system have you got now?

Alot will change when Christmas comes. I would recommend a Western Digital Special Edition HD 8MB. When Christmas comes, we may see S-ATA Drives, they wont be extremely faster, but it's a welcome advance in technology :D

Consider ordering online, but check vendors with resellerratings.com in order to avoid buying trouble. Online purchases give you more choice, better general prices and chances to snag real steals, and just a little wait for the delivery. There are lots of sites that list coupon numbers (not AT) that help, too. Rebates are a mixed bag, with any rebates to New Rochelle being a crap shoot.

Besides, maybe you can use your folks' credit cards to do online deals. (JK)
