Gameport -> USB Adapter?

Looking for a cheap Gameport -> USB adapter... I'm looking to hookup my old school Gameport Joystick to one of my USB ports. I'm sick of trying to fly helicopters in Desert Combat with a mouse and keyboard.

Only place I found one was on eBay, but I don't feel like shelling out $15 for a small adapter.

Thanks
Jonathan

or go buy a Wingman Extreme w/out forcefeedback....like $20

FYI, I have heard that its easier to control the choppers w/ KB and M. I personally don't feel like learning that....I like my wingman.

My Radio Shack sells them locally. It simulates the correct axes and buttons to the system as a standard driver-less USB joystick (Human Input Device). There doesn't appear to be a real Game port-to-USB converter anywhere.

I don't have one genius...

And I really don't feel like buying a new Joystick. My Sidewinder rocks.

CZRoe: So it only detects the axis' moving and just 4 of the buttons, no throttle or any extra buttons? Or do they all work?

Ugh... I've only found these. But I don't feel like spending $20 shipped for one. I'll stop by Radioshack and see what got.

Thanks.

Actaeon, you could also get a cheap sound card (or a free one when officemax offers one). Then you could disable the sound part on it and use the gameport on the card.

Axes = Plural of axis. Your throttle is an axis 🙂

It does support a throttle
I'm sure it supports my Nintendo 3D1 PC joystick (RARE!) but I'd rather keep it boxed 😀

Great! Sounds like exactly what I need... I couldn't find it on the Radioshack page... any idea on the cost?

I might do that... great idea. I used to use a TBSC for my old gameport, I sold it, and using the onboard SoundStorm, and I realize I don't have a gameport anymore.

If I can't find one of these for cheap, I'll head over to the FS/T forum and see if theres any cheap ones.

Thanks
Jonathan

It might be one of those bastard links that times out, but here. 🙂

My Radio Shack was selling it for less, but I don't remember how much less.

Thanks! I'm not sure, why I couldn't find it, I put "gameport" under product catalog search, and nothing came up.

$20 dollars after sales tax though 🙁. I'll see how what this ebay auction goes for before buying this.

Thanks
Jonathan
