Gameport under Soundblaster Live!

I am having trouble getting my joypad (PC Trident pad) to work under my Soundblaster Live! card. The LCD screen on the joypad comes on, so it is definately getting power, but trying to confugure it manually doesn't work, ie it does not even recognise that a joypad is connected. There is no driver disk..it says to do it manually.

An "Add new hardware" search does not pick it up.

Is there a problem with the soundcard itself? I had a previous Saitek joypad, that did come with a drivers disk, but it still was not detected.

Any help that anyone could give me would be appreciated! 🙂

Is this a new computer you are trying to connect to?. I ask because my joystick MS FF Pro does not connect to my new computer- Bought from NEC but there have been similar problems with systems bought from Dell, Gateway, etc apparently. That is systems bought from OEMs using Windows ME, pre loaded. There are a number of posts at Combatsim.com - Forums -( Joysticks , peripherals etc ) and see in this forum the thread - "Any suggestions for a joystick" .
You may find some help at Microsoft.com joysticks - but on a personal basis they have been no help to me so far at all.

Thanks for your reply. It is a new mb and CPU.

There are no conflicts and the drivers are installed. Under the Joystick configuration, it says that it is not connected, even though it a) is connected and b) the LCD display of the controller is on and working. I am at a loss!
