i recently bought a new motherboard that had no gameport.

i have a sidewinder pad that use to work on my old motherboard by connecting it to the gameport but the new motherboard that i bought doesnt have a gameport.

is there an adapter of some sort or a pci add-on or whatever to make the pad work with my motherboard?

As far as I know, it's unlikely you can get an adapter for a gameport. USB to gameport...maybe.

However, I'd just consider getting a cheap sound card with a gameport.

if i get a cheap sound card, can i use the gameport only and be able to use my onboard sound instead of from the card itself? many thanks

Yes you can choose which "card" to use for sound under Sound properties.

Also I know there are pci gamecard addons available just getting harder to find. I may have one laying around. LMK if interested and I will try to dig it out.

Still have a CH GameCard 3 from way back. Too bad it's ISA! (I did say from way back!) :disgust:
