I don't know why but it is assumed that all computer gamers only play first person and stealth shooters and stragedy games. Being an computer O.G.(original gamer) from the C64 days I have always played games with either a joystick or a gamepad. For some reason we are being pushed towards the keyboard-mouse only way of playing games. We need to halt and detour this progression people. A couple of days ago I was going through my cd books of old dos games and noticed how much I had to choose from back then. We don't get any fighting, arcade, sports, platforms, or 3rd person walkaround shooters. And Nascar rules the PC racing scene.

Does anyone have any suggestions of games that I mighty be interested in. Of course I expect some negative feedback but maybe a few people will have something helpful to say.

I do like some FPS but the last one I enjoyed was Max Payne. Its gonna take more than Doom3 to get me to upgrade from my Radeon 8500 128meg to a direct x 9 video card. I also like the Bioware role playing games but thats about it for my love of the keyboard-mouse combo.

Max Payne is third person, not first person. The reason PC doesn't get those type of games is because they're made solely for consoles now - PC games are made nowadays with online multiplayer capability in mind. Otherwise, why would you want to play a game in front of your monitor as opposed to a tv screen?

To be honest I don't have any suggestions without listing specific genres. Warcraft3 and other RTS style games (mouse + kb) are great games imho

I don't play games all that much but the popularity of mice escapes me. I use a keyboard as much as possible, and my wrist still gets achy from using the mouse. A game like Diablo 2 would kill me.

Nothing can beat the accuracy and speed of playing FPS/shooting style games with a mouse.

For any other games, I prefer keyboard alone, or joypad.

Yeah, on consoles they have to turn down the AI of the enemies in order to fit the gamepad style of consoles. Really lame...

Oh and if you like RPGs, go grab:

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
The Legend of Dragoon
Xenosaga

This should give you a good 200+ hours of gameplay. Perfect if you have alot of time. :)

I have to agree that a gamepad is easier to use but not half as fast or accurate as using a mouse. As stated the AI for console FPS's are dumbed down to accomodate for the slow inaccruate response of console gamepads. Also the aiming is usually "assisted" unlike with PC FPS's using a mouse.

The only thing I use a gamepad for is Virtua Tennis and GTA VC and both happen to be console (PS2 and Dreamcast) ports to the PC.

If extensive use of a mouse bothers you, try using a wrist pad, preferably gel. At work and at home I use wrist pads and it makes a world of difference. I cannot use a mouse for more an hour without a pad, otherwise it begins to hurt too much. My keyboads have pads too but my main home keyboard (Logitech Elite) has a built in yet removable, wrist support.
