Why do they insist on 60 fps caps, come on, there's folks with 144hz monitors too!!

Alpha is too early to test really, Beta is better for a preview.

This is the rest of the post. translated from what appears to be Russian
2-gigabyte video card in the test we did not take, so as not to cause even more confusion. Thus, when the test elucidated the situation, for example, that was faster 760-770 ti 780 and 980, but in this case the picture is somewhat worse. And on the other younger models almost slideshow. Apparently the game will automatically adjust settings, not allowing the user to manipulate (not amenable to logic, but apparently setting is determined based on the volume of video adapter) . It is possible for AMD cards also used several lower settings than the NVIDIA older, but that we learn to release games that will be available free access to the graphic settings of the game. So we advise not to use our test as a basis for making a decision on buying a video card for this game.
So the game automatically chooses what it thinks are optimal settings and doesn't tell you what they are. From screenshots the only things you can change are resolution and AA. Great benchmark.

They state that the 760/770 (both 2GB cards) used lower settings automatically selected by the game than the 780 ti and 980, neither being 2GB cards. Then they hypothesized, apparently with no empirical evidence, that that might be why AMD was performing better. While it is a possibility, as anything is possible, they don't give any evidence of lower settings, except performance is remarkably good. It is worth noting though that the game seems to auto adjust and there's no way of guaranteeing same settings.

tl;dr: no actual graphical settings beyond resolution, fov, vsync and AA. Graphics seems to be worse on older models and on AMD cards vs nVidia cards, hence higher fps on AMD cards and on older nVidia.
Most likely game autopicks more demanding settings on 970/980 than on 290/390 and fury. So, hold yer wieners, too early for celebratory circlejerk.

Hmm, I can speak russian and there is a lot of "maybe" and "it seems" in those sentences

290X beating a 980 Ti?

Seems like this needs a bit of work.

Also, I don't like games that autopick settings for you and you can't change it.

nvidia partnership and some gameworks bloat will restore the balance and make it more cinematic 30fps experience.

That will be enough with the threadcrapping.

Carmack does not allow [GameWorks] in his engine.

And we don't allow obscenities in this forum.

OP needs to change his post to clarify those benches are not apples to apples. Game auto picks settings and is running Nvidia cards at higher settings.

is this new idtech 6 engine still opengl based or have they moved on with Carmack being gone now? I know the old lead engine guy for Crytek is their new engine guy.

But seriously if DOOM has a locked 60fps framerate and these auto-quality settings that can't be changed by the user then id needs to close its doors for good.

The rumor is nvidia is running lower quality. I think OP should include this in first post aswell.

If it's a fun game, who really gives a damn?

Its doom. they have been talking about how old school fast paced it is. dont artificially limit pc users to 60hz. its ridiculous. I can hardly stand to play shooters at 60hz anymore after getting so used to BF4 @ 100hz
