If you don't need a DVD player I'd go with the Gamecube. Great games, nice price, and it's Nintendo;)

PS2 horribly shipped? what's that about?

PS2 has the most, and the best games out right now... and will still hold that claim for many months to come...

But they'll be shipping Resident Evil Zero exclusively on Gamecube (not sure on how far away this game is though). Personally I'm wanting a nice 2D scrolling (but 3d rendered) Megaman game for Gamecube. Come'on Capcom!!

If you don't already have a PS2 though, there is the incentive that Final Fantasy X will be out in January and that's some serious gaming fun so if you're into RPG'ing PS2 might be better for now. I'd definately say Gamecube if it's between the 'box and the 'cube though.

i don't know what's everyone's fuss is about finding these systems. There's tons at asian malls (some even offer free mod to the Game Cude and PS2 to play backups and imports).

<< Maybe the answer is, "The only one that you can actually find by Xmas." ;) >>

Try this on for size.

PS2 good system games are well developed good availability. I saw about 200 at BestBuy on Saturday.
XBox like the PS2 is more adult orientated 3-5 good launch titles with possibly the best launch title for any console being Halo.
Gamecube more of a kiddies console if you enjoy Mario Final Fantasy etc that is the console for you.

Availability is not a big issue for these consoles you just need to find go to a Software Etc/EB World and put your name on the list which they have. At my local store they put you on a waiting list for whatever console you want as they get there units in they give you a call when they get em in.

GameCube has very few games that interest me, their first party games have turned into a Fisher-Price fest, made for 8 year olds and are far to easy and have no compleixty whatsoever.

PS2 has quite a few good games out, some that interest me but the system itself is lacking in the graphic department.

Xbox has quite a few good games for their launch, Amped looks amazing, it has great graphics. I wold get the Xbox, but the cube is $100 cheaper, so if $100 means a lot to you you might have to get a cube.

Now, I'm going to disregard the fact that Final Fantasy isn't coming out for the GC, but explain to me how it classify's as a "kiddie" game? It's got complex story lines in every game. People die, the whole story is serious. Heck most kids I know couldn't even play FF if they wanted to b/c it's too complex for them. Perhaps for a game to be considered "adult" it has to have simple minded shooting, slashing and unrealistic gore?

well from what ive seen and heard rogue squadron 0wnz... I was a big fan of shadows of the empire on the n64(witch was not that great), if only for the first mission that totally owned. Rogues squadron1 was decent but man rs2 looks sooo sweet. Whereas halo is comming to pc and it's just another shooter while rs2 is an awesome arcade space sim.

I just hope that RS2 is going to be longer than Star Wars: Starfighter was for the PS2. That was a nice game but I beat the thing in two afternoons.

I have all 3 (just picked up the GC at noon today). If I had to chose one, it would be the Xbox by far and away... Halo, Oddworld, PGR and DOA3 are just insanely awesome!

If you truly wanted a PS2, you should have gotten one last year.

The XBOX imho is trying to turn the console into a computer.... theres too much unneccessary stuff on it like the BB adapter (only the VERY minority of gamers will be able to use it), hard drive, etc.

The Gamecube is the only true console I can see from the three (the reason why ppl buy ps2's in japan is only because of its dvd capabilities). It's simple, no frills and 100 bucks cheaper than its competitors. It has some great looking games to boot.
