I'm gonna be picking up a GC tomorrow (or monday, depending when I can get a ride to the mall :p--wish the DMV would send me a date for mah drivers test already! :D).

I saw a commercial for F-Zero GX, which has been my favorite game since I played it back on the SNES, and I have to get one so I can get this in the fall.

Anyways, I'm going to be getting the GC (pre-owned for $90), an extra controller ($15) and a memory card ($20). Wish I had more money--but mah boss will only let me work weekends. :( I really can't afford much else. I just bought some nice roller blades and fixed up my Diamondback and now I need to save for a powerbook.

So choose from the poll, I'm a very indecisive kid :)

Zelda or Metroid - why would you get a Gamecube and not have one of those two games?!

Soul Calibur II is supposed to be released in a few months - you might want to wait a bit as well.

Metroid first. This game is the most crucial game out for it right now. Then Zelda. And no matter what, DO NOT get Starfox Adventures. After you've got the first two go for baldurs gate, that game was bad ass.

Burnout 2 and Ikaruga are both awesome games... In fact I had both for sale in my FS/T thread.

I'd get Metroid, then everything else. Its simply one of the best games EVER made. Out of the choices you listed, I'd get Burnout 2. Its a hell of a lot of fun.

Not really a big fan of Zelda::I am a huge Final Fantasy fan! (psyched for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles) :)

I heard (from gamespot) that the GC version was somehow neutered and worse? Dunno. My friend is getting it for his PS2 and we're going to beat it together, which is why I'm considering Summoner. Me = huge RPG fan.

I heard from mah bro that Burnout 2 was really sweet. And ikagura looks so much fun, old school games are so good. :D

So it seems Matroid Prime is the general consensus?

Yup get Metroid. More bang for your buck. Go to your local blockbuster to see if they still have it in stock for $20. I dont think they raised the price on it, but it might be out of stock.

So you're spending ~$135 for used stuff?!

No no no, you MUST scrounge every last dime you have and spend $150 on a NEW Gamecube w/ the free game OR Gameboy player.

I have Ikaruga out of the games you listed only. It's pretty damn hard. No seriously, it's REALLY damn hard. It's good though... but it is still $40. My favorite GC game has been Zelda. I HIGHLY reccomend it. (Wasn't too into Metroid really... I think the fact that shes pretty much mute in the games makes it seem very dull/boring)

I agree - for $15 more, most gamestores give you a new game with your NEW GC.

Ture. But I don't get the extra controller, nor the memory card. Plus, only the GC is used, everything else is gonna be new.

The money you saved by buying used is evened out because you have to buy a game still no?

Money saved by buying used - $60

Money saved by buying new and getting free game - $50

Yeah.

And I believe it's easier to find cheap used memory cards and controllers. You don't want the main console to mess up on ya - it'd be easier to replace a memory card or a controller.

Anyhoo, a lot of places give metroid prime as one of their free games (or Zelda or Mario, I think), FYI.

I see your point, however, if I decide to buy Time Splitters ($15), then I win.

If I decide to get Metroid Prime, then I should get a new GC w/ it Free.

Another good point. While I would liek to get new, I need every dollar I can get for mah laptop...

I personally don't have a problem buying a GC used. Plus, I know the guy who works @ EB in the mall. He'll let me test it out, I'm sure.

Ah okay, well its all really up to you. :)

I think you will be buying one of the GC games you can get free sooner or later. Zelda is too good to pass on! :p I'm just not a fan of buying used consoles. I need the peace of mind knowing where it has been and how its been treated, an dhaving that Nintendo warranty. :)

Metroid is a very good game(I just beat it 2 nights ago), but for your first game, fvck anything else, you buy Eternal Darkness and you will be happy.
Best game. For any system. Ever.

are u gonna be playing with friends? if you're into sports games, nfl2k3 is fun playing against 1 friend (havent tried with 4 yet) and super monkey ball (2) is good times 4player..

nfl2k3 is only 10 bcuks and super monkey ball is 30, but for your first game id say metroid first, zelda next, then one of these 2... or if you like online rpgs and dont mind paying 9 bucks a month, phantasy star online is greaaaaaat

Pikmin is excellent.
Ive beaten Baldurs for the Ps2 and GC didnt notice much difference between the two.great game nevertheless.
I have the Viewtiful Joe demo and that rocks.
Metroid is the most solid game i have ever played. The atmosphere, the controls,interface..puts most other titles to shame.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker -excellent 1 or 2 player game if you have a GC to GBA cable.
Super Smash Bros: Melee -good multiplayer game.
