I'm going with the GameCube, strictly for the sole reason that you listed Jimbo.
The X-Box will have Gate's Billions and Billions of dollars from Windows funding it, Nintendo only rely's on its games. Nintendo has to make money through the GameCube for that is their sole source of profit, Microsoft's X-Box will be funded through not only the money it makes, but also Window's profits. Kind of like SONY not having the PS2 as their main source of income.
Another reason is that Microsoft's X-Box booth at E3 2001 sucked according to EGM. E3 is where you either make or break your chances of succeeding in the gaming market. Obviously Mr. Gates' has his mind on other things and could care less about the X-Box as long as it's making some profit.
Also, has anyone ever tried Microsoft's first attempts at anything, they suck-diddly-uck. Buggy as heck.
My last reason is price, I made the mistake of paying $300 for the Saturn, which in return wasn't that bad of a deal considering what games came out on it.. But, $300 for Microsoft's first attempt on a console, I'm not buying it. I'd rather buy the GameCube, an extra controller and a Game rather than just the X-Box for $300.
I can ramble on and on about this subject, and the fact that the X-Box has 100+ Third Party Developers doesn't scare me one bit. None of them are good except Konami, SEGA and Activision.
