Component cables have Red/Green/Blue connectors, composite have Red/White/Yellow.

thanks, you're sure that there are no color variants to the cables right?

so there is NO chance that a composite cable can have a green or blue connector?

also note that genuine components are worth like 25x as much as their composite coutnerparts

I highly doubt it, especially if we're just talking about Gamecube cables. I haven't seen any Gamecube component cables around other than the official Nintendo cables, which are RGB.

All TVs have these connectors with the appropriate color on the back, so changing the colors wouldn't make sense because you'd have no idea how to plug them in.

It's pretty unlikely you'll _accidentally_ buy component cables for the Gamecube. Those things are worth a fortune compared to composite cables. They also plug into an entirely different port, which your Gamecube might not even have.

(As an aside: the reason there are no third-party component cables is because they need to have a DAC in them, since the "component port" outputs in digital, not analog.)

That said, component is definitely the way to go on the 'cube, if you've got the cash, the appropriate GC model, and a 480p-capable TV. Progressive scan really increases quality substantially, and it works on most games.
