Gamecube just shuts off

So I have 3 nintendo gamecube controllers and 1 generic controller. It will not turn on with the generic controller plugged into any slot and when I start it up first then plug in the generic controller it shuts off again. Why is this? Thanks.
 
Something could be shorted in the controller creating voltage in the wrong place. Open it up and see.
