Gamecube Games - Still Plenty Around?

Hello All,

I never had a Gamecube but since I bought a wii I have been renting a few from gamefly. Do you think they will be available for a while? I don't want to lost out on playing them because they arent made anymore.

Should I buy the ones I really want or just rely on gamefly to keep stocking them for a while?

If I should buy them, where is the best place?

List of games I want to play on Gamecube still:

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness
Super Mario Sunshine
Pikman
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Beyond Good and Evil
Tales of Symphonia
Paper Mario: Thousand Year-old Door
Fire Emblem
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
Star Fox Adventures

If you are happy with Gamefly's service, then you should just stick with them. I'm sure they won't run out any time soon since I think they're aware that Wii is backwards compatible.

Unfortunately though, if you want to buy, good luck finding a place. I would try ebay or craigslist. You might be able to get some good deals. If you really need to, then go with Gamestop (ugh!)

I still have all of my Gamecube games, including most of the ones on your list

Probably be fine with just renting them unless you like to collect stuff.

Eternal Darkness was so good. Star Fox Adventures was kind of meh. Rogue Squadron is still fun IMO.

edit: Amazon has some seller trying to get 93 bucks for Eternal Darkness. They do have them used for reasonable prices.

Add Ikaruga to the list if you don't have some other means of playing it and like shooters.

There's a remake of Pikmin for the Wii(called New Play Control Pikmin) that uses the nunchuck and wiimote to control, play that instead.

No idea about Gamefly, but let me pontificate about GameStop.

I would not expect to see GameStop stocking 'cube games (or Xbox games, for that matter) much past the end of 2010. They've already EOL'd the original Xbox games, and the PS2 section is becoming more and more the red-headed stepchild no one wants (it's pretty much off the primo wall spots now where I am). I personally think this is dumb (I'd kill for a used PS1 section again!), but there is a business reality of limited shelf space.

Your list is basically the same as mine, although I'd add Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Skies of Arcadia Legends, and the Baiten Kaitos games.

None of the gamestops around me have a single gamecube game, and haven't for a while. There are other private game shops that do but gamestop doesn't keep old games for long.

I regret not picking up MGS: Twin Snakes when I had the chance.

Try K-Mart, I went to couple of them and they still have GameCube games, but cannot guarantee that the ones near you will have them.

Depends on where you are. My local Gamestop has three double-sided racks full of GC games. They can't seem to get rid of them.

My local K-mart has them also. The prices are ridiculous though, but then they also still have GTA IV and Forza 2 marked at 59.99, so who knows.

The Gamestop near me still has a ton of Gamecube titles. Same goes for the original Xbox. The used games will stick around for a while, if not on store shelves, there's always eBay. Backwards compatibility has kept demand up I think to a reasonable level where it still makes sense to sell them.
