<< Bundles that double the price of the hardware suck >>

Bundle items if purchased separately:

Gamecube - $199.99
Luigi's Mansion - $49.99
Madden 2002 - $49.99
Star Wars: Rogue Leader - $49.99
Extra Controller - $34.99
Memory Card 59 - $14.99
6 Months of EGM - $9.99
8% Sales Tax - $33.19

Total Cost - $448.12

The bundle from Amazon.com with everything mentioned above:

GameCube Jet Black Luigi Pack - $399.99

Granted you have to add shipping to that based on where you live, but I doubt it will be $50.
I ordered a GCN bundle from ebgames.com that had 4 games with Next Day Air UPS and it was only around $25.

So where's the markup?

This bundle crap is getting crazy. I went to Virgin to use the 30% of deal from Amex. I call to make sure they have them, drive 30 mins to get there. Then I find out you have to buy the Cube, a Game Boy Advance and one game. So then after determining I can sell the GBA on Ebay, I decide to buy it. Only then do I learn that you don't get to pick any game, oh no you get Wave Race. That's when I told him to keep it. I was more than willing to buy the Game Cube and 3 games (of my choice) but what's up with forcing me to buy a GBA???

Having to buy a bundle doesn't bother me BUT I would much rather get to pick the games in the bundle. I'm buying this for my daughter. As it stands there is only 1 game in the bundle she will play.

That does, however, leave 2 for me.....

The markup comes by being forced to buy bundled items you may not want. What if you just wanted the console? They won't let you do it.

Whats with adding sales tax to the seperate list??

Also, adding the cost of 6 months of EGM into it isn't really fare...that doesn't cost them anything and you can probably get better deals anyway if you look for them.

But, your main point stands that they haven't really marked up these bundles much if at all, however many places do.

SUCH AS

Problem is, you can't pick what you want. It's really just a lame-ass practice in general. It's unfortunate that people need this stuff so desperately that they allow retailers to get away with treating them like crap, it just encourages them to do it more.

I put sales tax because most of the retail stores I have seen are selling the stuff separately while online retailers seem to be the ones only selling bundles.

I do agree that it sucks to not be able to pick the games.

BTW, what JCPenny is doing is crazy, KB Toys is doing the same thing.

I, errrr, I mean Santa had to get the bundle from Amazon for my little girl. Santa thought it was a fair price and they're in stock, no tax for NY, and free shipping;)

Instead of buying forced bundles, just shop around and get what you want, not what they want you to get.
