They are all going for over $150 new on Amazon. Before you say "nobody will buy that.." people will, I have sold a lot of overpriced games on Amazon before the holidays and there are some really rich people shopping there whom you wouldn't find on ebay... and they eat this s*** up. I even sent out about a dozen items without delivery confirmation successfully. If I were to do that with ebay.. BAM, INR dispute.

But anyway, I don't see the point of anyone owning a GBA when a DS plays GBA games. I could see the appeal of an n64 NIB or Dreamcast but not GBA - even for the diehard fanboys. That's like seeing that the GC will go for $200 next year even though it's redundant since people own Wiis. Retailers sold the GBA just a few months ago and now they have doubled in price. If I knew I would have stocked up :(

here are a few quick compareables from ebay.

GBA Glacier NIB $205

GBA Glacier NIB $51 (same day auction)

Pearl Blue GBA NIB $127

Pearl Blue GBA NIB $140

I'm always one to flip hot deals like these but damn, I saw stock piles of these at BB and Target probably last fall and thought they were killed off with DS-GBA backwards compatibility.

Only Nintendo......

The DS doesn't have a link port, so you can't use the GBA<->Gamecube link cable with it. That's the reason I went off and bought a GBA-SP (AGS-101!) even though I already had a DS. The Wii doesn't support the GBA Player, which is why I still own a Gamecube, too.

and the DS cannot play older gameboy/gameboy color games (legally) unless they're ported over to GBA or DS format

the GBA / SP is the only/last GameBoy system that is fully compatible with all GameBoy branded games.

Nintendo keeps saying the DS is a new platform all together, but since we've really heard nothing of any new GameBoy it really is looking like a true phaseout/replacement scenario

Oh, and one other thing: the reason some GBA-SPs go much higher than others is because there are two versions of the GBA-SP: back-lit and front-lit. The former is the preferable version, so it goes for more. The original GBA (non-SP) is completely unusable in comparison to both.

I'd love a new Gameboy, but despite Nintendo's claims, I'm pretty sure that platform is dead.

the old gba goes for the highest. I did some more researching and they are extremely rare since they were discontinued around the end of 2002. NIB they are very pricey but they are cheap used.

It's unplayable sure, but it's a piece of Nintendo history, FWIW.

I was unaware there were two versions of the gba sp. I assumed they were both back lit.

Hah, I've got so many GBA's in my house it isn't even funny. My Glacier Blue that I bought in 2001, with Afterburner frontlight + blue power led mod. I've got another Glacier Blue I bought from a friend for $40 mainly for the games he gave me with it; I put a new front lens on it and it looks great. Pearl Blue GBA SP (Japanese import, maybe 2003?) in good condition, and a Pearl Pink J import with a broken LCD. Too bad they're worth shit (as they should be) used.

eveything is worth shit used. Mainly because it can be sold over and over again. A new system can only be sold new once until it is opened and then resold as used along with millions of others..

The only GBA that I was tempted to buy after owning a DS was the GBA micro. I think they had to be imported but they are awesomely compact.

It was released in the US. The screen is tiny but it makes games look great. It is indeed awesomely compact.
