I know about the afterburner kit, but does anyone know if Nintendo will ever produce one themselves??

Just curious, because i'll hold off my purchase if its coming out soon...

There are no plans for an official one from Nintendo. That afterburner kit looks very nice!

I don't know why Nintendo has never made a system with a backlight but I Seriously doubt that they'll release an add on pack, basically because it'd require your GBA being torn apart and that voids its warrenty. You'd have to send it in to them if they did it at all and just don't see it happening. If you want back lit I'd just go ahead and get the afterburner. But as far as lights go, there is a really nice floodlight out thats cheaper too.

In case no knows what we're referring to, try http://www.portablemonopoly.com

It actually is battery power. You remember the power demands for the Lynx and Game Gear and Nomad and Turbo Express? For the Lynx I think it was 4-6 hrs for 4 C batteries or something. I don;t have mine anymore so I can't remember exactly, but all color systems have been tremendously power hungry.

Lots of people can see the GBA screen just fine. I can not however, so I'm getting my sister a kit for her GBA (really for me so I can play).

Whether this backlight kit is something Nintendo didn't want to include (PM says it'll only take the power a wormlight normally would) or didn't think of is not something I can answer.

Nintendo will never make one, they were planning from the beginning to let 3rd party companies make the light accessory.

<< sega gamegear has a great backlight screen >>

And took 6 AA batteries. And died in 3 hours. GBA takes 2 AA's, and lasts 20 hours. According to Portable Monopoly, the Afterburner takes the GBA down to 10-12 hours with the light on. Plus, you can turn it off when you are outside or on the crapper.
