Game Theater XP in Win XP

Has anyone gotten this to work in Windows XP...

It's sitting on it's own IRQ and it freezes whenever you try to play a sound file
through Windows Media Player...
It will also freeze the system randomly without doing anything sound related...

I have the most current drivers loaded for sound and video...
Is this most likely poor drivers, or hardware conflict, etc?

Any help is appreciated...

My setup is:
Soyo Dragon Plus
XP 1700
2x256 Crucial 2100
GeForce 3 Ti200 Tit
Liteon 16x DVD
Liteon 24x CDRW

Do you have the latest bios for your Dragon? Also if you upgraded to XP from anything 9x did you install hercules' special patch?

I have not flashed the BIOS yet...
but this is a fresh install of XP Professional...

Should I definitely flash to latest BIOS?

Yes, I would say you should. Most of the reviews I have read about that particular motherboard mention a bios update. Besides your problems with the GTXP, how do you like the soyo? I am considering that particular board for an upgrade (even though I hate via).

My BIOS says 2BA1 on boot...which is current according to Soyo's site...
their last revision was 11/15.

I think I'll really like this motherboard when the sound card works, and no longer pisses me off 🙂

Which pci slot is the soundcard installed in. Slots 4 and 5 on that soyo share an interrupt with the raid controller. If the card is in one of them that might be the problem.

I have tried every slot...
switching to W2k sp2 OS...updating VIA drivers
trying 256MB instead of 512MB

I'm running out of troubleshooting ideas...the system
runs like a champ when that card is not in it.
I don't know what else to try.

Is it possible that the detonator drivers could conflict somehow?

Yeah, mine is working fine under Windows XP as well. My setup is also different, so I would say try updating the BIOS and do some slot switching to see if it will change the interrupt and allow it to work right.

I don't have the Soyo board I have an Epox. Mine is running fine in XP. I thought that that Dragon board had awesome onboard audio. Have you tried it. Also have you made sure that the onboard audio is disables in bios and jumpers?
