Game Theater XP - crystal sound driver conflict

did a new xp install- when the new crystal driver installed from windowsupdate,
(k7s5a board) it 'took out' the game theater card, so I uninstalled it,
got the card back

updated to service pack 1 - now, same probem,
game theater xp lists as

'unsupported customized Crystal Sound Fusion Audio Device'

when I try to select the driver in the GT XP folder, xp tells me that it can't
find a better drive than the current on, doesn't matter how many times
I disable, uninstall, reinstall, etc.

have you tried running the exe driver install file? it says that you have to have the network cable disconnected or something when you do the driver update from hercules.com i think.

no matter how many times I run the driver package, it is not there after rebooting,
device manager still lists it as 'unsupported'

Disconnect internet
Uninstall the old driver
Use the latest driver install package from the hercules website
Restart as told
Reconnect internet only after everything's done
