Game suggestions C&C

Anyone have any game suggestions. Never really been a hardcore pc gamer. Not really into the Call of Duty or Crysis games. I played Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Wrath of Kane and loved it(hated Red Alert). Can anyone suggest a game similar to that?

They have a C&C 4 but the reviews for it are really bad just like Red Alert 3 was.

TBH the RTS genre kind of hit it's stride there a few years ago and not many devs are keeping it alive right now. Like everything in life I'm sure it will make a surge again sometime but that usually takes years, sometimes decades.

anyway here is a couple of lists: http://gameslikefinder.com/games-like-command-and-conquer/

I enjoy Starcraft 2, Company of Heroes and a couple of others on that list but not many and some are pretty old now. Sadly there just isn't much, they even cancelled C&C Generals 2 because of the poor sales of C&C4

Act of War was a decent C&C style game. Starcraft 2 was meh for me. If you're just looking for an newer RTS in general...

Company of Heroes/Dawn of War is good but with more of an emphasis on tactics. Supreme Commander (not the second one) is a Total Annihilation style RTS that's all about massive battles. Sins of a Solar Empire is a slower paced RTS with more of a emphasis on trade/colonization. World in Conflict is an interesting take on RTS's with an emphasis on team play. Off hand, I can't really thing of any other RTS's I've enjoyed in the last few years.

The list linked to by TheSlammais a bit odd. Both the fact that they refer to C&C as a "more realistic war experience" and the list itself. The first 4 games they list are all browser based games. Shattered Union is turn based. There's a couple of non-PC titles. There's also an age factor. Several of the games on that list do not run well (or at all) on Windows 7/8. Battle For Middle Earth II was a great game (uses the C&C Generals engine) but doesn't like Window 7/8 or Widescreen resolutions. Ditto for Empire Earth II which also had AI problems.

Alternatively, Age of Empires II and Rise of Nations have both been remastered and re-released on Steam.

There's a package of the Command & Conquer games that's fun.

There's also Total Annihilation and the Supreme Commander series.

I loved Generals/Zero hour. God that was so much fun it was insane. Such a shame the RTS genre has all but died. Its so much fun I can't imagine why it died out. I think the only popular game is starcraft 2 these days. I was never into those blizzard RTS games though except for warcraft.

For me, Dawn of War 2 is the pinnacle of the genre as it stands.

Best suggestion from left field would be Homeworld, HW: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2... Quite old, don't look too bad (especially if you're willing to search out for mods) and the best space-based RTS games by a mile or 50.

Plus, Homeworld is being remade with modern graphics and is due out sometime (possibly 2015?).

For RTSes I'd highly recommend WH40K: Dawn of War, Dawn of War 2, Rise of Nations and Company of Heroes (the first one). As far as Command & Conquer goes, I'd say give a try to C&C 2 (A.K.A. Tiberian Sun), or the first Red Alert, or Red Alert 2 vanilla (without the expansion). For now I'd say go with Dawn of War 2, pretty good game.

Damn i remember when i purchased the first Command & Conquer that came with a box and a printed manual and 2 CDs 🙂

But on topic: Tiberium Wars and Kanes Wrath were the best C&C apart from No.1.

Starcraft 2 is very fun. The single player is quite a nice ride. It was the next strategy game to capture me after C&C

If anyone wants to play some tib sun, I still remember my build order. I'd love to play that game again. Was my favorite for years. Damn, I miss C&C. Those were the golden years.
