Game runs slow

Hi, I'm a "UT" fan, the original version.
I played it continually with the following system.
PIII, Geforce 4 4400 128MB, 512 ram, Asus Cusl2 MB, 3m cable service, MS98SE, PS 350 Enermax.

I had to switch to dial up and therfore could not continue to play online.
Forward a few years and I now have upgraded my system to the following:

PIV Northwood 3.2, ATI AIW X800XL*, 1 gig ram, Asus P4p800 SE MB, 5M cable service, MS XP Pro, PS 350 Enermax.


I expected with the new hardware and faster internet service that I would be playing the game at its maximum performance but the game stutters at times.

The ping speed looks resonable(under 100), I am trying to determine if I need more ram, a stronger PS, or if it is my graphic card.

( The card I have was ATI's Warranty fix, they replaced my ATI AIW X800XT with the "XL" which is slower, I'll never buy another ATI/AMD product again)

Your PSU may be a bit small.

While a P4 is much better then your old P3 its still a bit slow. Adding another gig of RAM should make a big difference.

Thanks "mpilchfamily", it seems I had additional problems that "AVG" and "Malawarebytes" didn't find. I had some viruses which started with "Virtumonde" and then added "ad.yieldmanager. "Spybot" found the problem but I now have a new problem.

My system still runs slow, which probably goes back to the PS and Ram, but now my system will stop or hesitate at boot up when it reads the "NVRAM".

I formatted my root directory after the vuruses but not my other drives, however none of the programs find any malaware or other malicious files on any of my drives.
I've checked my system with "Defender", "Malawarebytes", "Spybot", Spyware Doctor and "AVG" and it comes up clean.

Also my system is having trouble recognizing my monitor. I can't run the video card higher than 16bit and 60HZ. Prior to my problem I was running 1024 x 768 32 bit @ 85hHZ.

Could settings in my BIOS have been changed by the virus and if so what should I look for?

sounds like a video driver issue to me. are you running the latest drivers available for your graphics card? you may want to clean/reinstall them

I'm using Cat 7.6 now, I tried 8.4 and 9.3 and there is no difference.

I was getting an error message in the EVENT viewer, ATI bad CRT, something to that effect,
but it has stopped since I chose a new plug and play monitor.
