Game recommendation - similar to Phantasmagoria

Several years ago I played the PC game Phantasmagoria and just loved it. This game was basically a mystery game where you searched around for clues to solve a puzzle. I also had movie sequences that gave the game a sexy edge.

I'm looking for current, similar style games for PC or PS2. Any recommendations?

The adventure game genre hasn't been getting much attention recently.

You might want to check out http://www.justadventure.com/. The reviews are a bit strange, but at least you get a feel for what's out there.

I just finished playing phantasmagoria for the first time and I enjoyed it. I have the sequel here but I am having trouble getting it to install on WinXP.
As far as adventure games go, I think you would really like The Longest Journey.

Yes, I also enjoyed it. The adventure genre has fallen on hard times recently. TLG is one of the better recent releases. Syberia is also supposedly pretty good.

I don't know how familiar you are with the adventure genre but FYI LucasArts has been the genre's leader forever, so if you've never played any of their games you can pick them up cheap by now. They have a humorous feel to them though, so that may not appeal to you.

Another older game you might want to check out is The Last Express. It was your typical mystery-on-a-train, but unique because the game actually takes place in real time...there are always conversations and events going on around you. That made it difficult as hell for me personally, but very memorable as well.
