Today is his birthday and I want to buy him a new computer game. He really like Warcraft III style of game. His CPU is 800mhz Duron with a Gforce2 MX 32mb with 512 RAM

Whats a good game I can pick up at Wal Mart for him.

Age of Mythology might be a little taxing for the system. It needs 256MB of RAM, that's for sure.

Edit: Well, if Warcraft III ran on it, it may be ok. Otherwise, check out Age of Empires II, which the system is well equipped for... It's a little older though - maybe he has it already..?

If he doesn't have it already, some turn-based goodness in Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (not 4!)

In the bargain bin (maybe get with something else) Fallout 1-2 and Fallout Tactics for some turn-based squad-level goodness.

He's already got Age od Empires 2 and Heroes 3.

I don't think he has Age of Mythology though...

Dont buy Age of Mythology expecting to play multiplayer online like you can with Aoe2. The new online matching system, ESO, sucks donkey balls.

Myth III is in the bargain bin already and it was pretty fun. If he likes WC III then Battle Realms is a good choice, it was basicly WCIII except it came out about a year before WCIII. That one should be a cheapie too, and there is an expasion out for it also. If you want to go way back Total Annihilation is my favorite RTS ever, but you might have to go to ebay to get it. Ohhh, Dungeon Keeper 2 also, that game was a riot and will run great for him-

He just turned 12. Turns out he wanted morrowind. It'll surely tax his present system but I can hook him up with a better vid card if need be.

i used to play morrowind on a athlon 750, 224mb ram, gf2mx 400

at 800x600, with the view distance under half it was playable, tho chopped up if i had a scenic view from up high, hell of a game, takes a tough box to run it acceptably....anyone know how NWN would run on that box? i passed that over for morrowind myself
