do i need to install all the patches to get all their fixes or can i just install the latest patch and have all the stuff of the earlier patches installed/fixed as well?

Just use the in game patcher for Civilization IV, it is in the advanced options and it is what the developers intended for you to use. BTW, what was your 666 post:evil:?

Indeed. I wish more games had such a convenient way to get patches. Most just open the browser and redirect you to a mirror and expect you to do it yourself.
