are they worth it? i dont want to wear the keys down on my laptop and was thinking of buying one..is it worth it or should i just buy a mini keyboard?

hmm, on a laptop... how long do you plan on keeping your laptop, how often do you game, and how much money are you willing to throw away? Personally I would say stick with a laptop, because does it really matter if you can't see WASD on your keyboard? even so, I've had my Dell cheapie keyboard for 3+ years and there's no indication of how often I game on it.

Dont think of it in terms of keyboard wear.
Think of it in terms of enjoyment.

I still like a gamepad for certain windows games and all my emulated NES and SNES games.
And guoziming is right. Games are considered normal wear and tear. I've had my current board for 2 years and the WSAD keys look exactly like the rest.

I have the gravis gamepad pro.
Its USB and looks exactly like the PS 1 except for the colors.

Works great for old emulator games and good for modern flight sims. If I really feel hardcore I'll hook up my Logitech Wingman Pro. But that thing takes up too much desk space for casual gaming.
