Game on high (CS:S)...

I know you don't want to try this, because nobody does, but a re-install might solve your problems. If not then check/re-install drivers, power, supply etc. And I have an A XP 3200+, 6600GT and 1GB of ram, and I play 1280*1024 high, AA/AF, and HDR and it works fine with few stutters. Buying a new video card might not only solve your problems, but it might be a rash decision.

I was planning on buying a new card and case anyway...just was wondering if that MAY BE the problem...either way...I am getting a Lian Li PC-60B case and a 7800 GT...

I have an Enermax 450W PSU now...will an OCZ 520W be necessary?

I have not OC'ed...YET...I will with my new case though...

I have a 9800XT and a 2800+ Athlon XP and I can run the game at all high settings (no AA or AF) at 1280x1024 and get some pretty fast framerates.

i run a 6600gt on high with a 300watt seasonic😛 wlel i turn off shadows.

something in your system is unstable. or your windows is fuxored
.

Since the last steam update my cs:s will randomly crash during battles with intense sounds such as a combined rifle and grenade assault with multiple players. It only happens randomly but I've noticed the circumstances in play when it does occur. I believe the problem is with the update because my game never did this before the update.

I have a 6600GT, here are the settings I run at.

8xSAA
16xAF
All High
Full HDR
+
Fakefactory's cinematic mod (adds bump mapping, super high res textures, etc)
@ 1280x1024

It doesn't crash for me. I think it's software related. (p.s., could I have your 6600GT so I can add it to mine and SLI them?)

I can seel/ship my VERY slightly used vid card as soon as I receive my 7800 GT...if anyone is truly interested PM me...I have Paypal (confirmed user account)...

i have a 6800 128mb and i play on 2x/4x/ and high everything else. but i get huge drops in frame rates down to 19fps at certain spots of maps. my system specs are pentium 4 3.2 HT, 2x512 kingston cas3, pny 6800 128mb 325/700. and audigy2zs playing at 1280x1024. i avg like 70 fps walking alone but it takes me about 5 mins to fully load the game.

Its because of your Pentium. It's heating up the case so much everything else just won't function 😉 😛 🙁 .

/sarcasm

Seriously, I have no idea.

I can play CSS at 1280x1024 with 8xAA/16xAF and everything on max. I get about 50-70FPS, which is good enough for me. Rig specs in sig. I highly doubt that your computer would crash because your video card isn't powerful enough. It's probably the PSU.

Do you get a error and it say if you can debug it like the back round is black and then it will say an error has accoured and steam has to close I get the same thing my firend also gets it also he has a X700 pro I have a 6800gt I have no idiea why it does that

i dont think my psu is the problem i have a thermaltake purepower 430 watt but i dont have many power hungry parts in my rig
