Pretty much the same. Just change "Ugh, still 2 months away. I'll never make it." to "Ugh, still 7 years away. I'll never make it. "

The book readers are just going to have to settle watching the show as it passes the books because at this point the probability of Martin finishing the remaining books before dieing looks slimmer and slimmer at this point.

Well the most recent one was supposed to be out before this season in the show (iirc fall of last year), I'm 99% sure that's why they held back on Bran's story arc last season. I'm not a book reader but I understand it's very common for him to miss deadlines by vast margins. So yeah, 2 more books after the one he's on now? He ded.

To be fair they have changed so much between the two it's not a big issue at this point really as they have become two separate storylines in most of the plot lines.

Yes and no. While some details are getting changed you have to believe that the big picture stuff is going to be the same. If the popular R + L = J theory is true and Jon is the ultimate hero/winner in the books he's not getting whacked in S5 of the series. However Martin has envisioned the books ending the TV series is going to end the same way. That's going to be a pretty big problem as the series will wrap up long before the last book arrives. Will anyone still care about the books 7-10 years from now after the series has been off the air for 5 years and everybody knows what happened?

Absolutely, I'm sure many people are into the books due to the show. While I'm sure some/many will drop off once they know the ending it'll still increase their total sales. Book readers prior to the show are very likely to continue anyways, they were already invested.

He should just wait for the seasons to air, then have someone ghost-write the novelization and stick his extra characters and 'historically accurate' child-porn in as book reader fan service.

They already have so it's no biggy now and for such a minor character who really cares unless we get to see boobies first of the current legal one and not the 16 year old one. ;)

He should have done that like 5 years ago. When the series took off and became such a huge hit it was pretty clear to everyone that timing was going to be an issue and the series would eventually pass the books. He could have written chapter outlines and passed those along to a ghostwriter or two and gotten them returned where he could tweak them to his standards. Lots and lots of successful writers use ghosts, Tom Clancy made a mint using ghostwriters and James Patterson makes even more. GRRM could have done that, padded out the series to a couple of extra books, sold a couple of extra seasons to HBO and bought a gold-plated jet to fly to his comic book conventions.

New teaser appears to have leaked.
Some claim that it's fake (mostly because they find it disappointing)
I think 80% chance it's real: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8b6t4VtEXk

Meh, I'd say it's fake/fan made for several different reasons. The entire thing looks CGI, all lines are from previous episodes (only part that couldn't be CGI'd by a fan).
Most importantly? It spoils the "is Jon Snow really dead" question. Also, Tyrion isn't dead (yet?) so there's no way his face would be in there at the start of the season for a teaser. Also, to a lesser degree, aren't all those faces ones from those taken at the temple?

Yeah, I'd say fake without a doubt.

Here is my reasoning why I think it may be real:

A "teaser for the teaser" has been released a few days ago via official channels. Today's PC's are yesterday's rendering farms but to fabricate a teaser that seems like it's natural continuation of the one that has been confirmed on such a short notice..

EDIT: Ok, the one link I posted has been taken down by guess who... HBO. That confirms it's genuine, at least for me it does.

Here is a new link for the teaser, probably HBO will probably take this down too:

Couldn't possibly be because it's using copyrighted material, actors and voices, right?

I'm not saying it can't be real, just that your reasons aren't very good, or even likely and there's more likely reasons to think it's fake.

How so?

No need to spoiler text, it's released. In fact, there's no need to spoiler text anything in this thread anymore since the show is past the books, imo.
The 'faceless men' can be played by dinky and kit no matter if Tyrion or J^Snow take it right on the "things are getting serious".

Spoiler tags have nothing to do with the books (the content of which is not allowed in this thread, even with spoiler tags).

Spoiler tags can be used in this thread for rumors, or any type of unaired content. I for one really appreciate if spoiler tags are used for trailers (as someone did above), as trailers are, by definition, unaired content, and I don't (want to) watch them. And yes, to me this includes the 'next week on GoT' teaser thingy at the end of an episode.
