Keeping his hair in character is more commitment than you imply.

A few pages back, before #hairwatch became a thing I joked the hair was indication of him not being done like Ned Stark is done. However, Thoros of Myr reviving Berric Dondarrion/Melisandre back at the Wall at time of his death, the build up of Jon's background in the books and to an extent in the show/R+L=J, the legalese speak in statements made regarding Kit's contract/show status, Jon's absence from InMemoriam merchandise...it all adds up. Shaky, definitely, borderline tinfoil hat material but I used more suspect clues to piece together the end of season 5 weeks in advance and was right on most counts. I'll be here for crow if I'm wrong.

Deadwood's Ian McShane has been cast in an as yet unknown role for next season. Speculation is that he'll play either Balon Greyjoy's brother Euron or Samwell Tarly's father Randyll

Is the speculation based on what would be spoilers from the book?

Jon Snow: stabbed multiple times and bleeds out on the snow, in front of the entire audience: "Maybe he isn't dead!"

Syrio: No one ever sees him die, much less suffer any kind of injury: "Of course he's dead, you dumbass! Aren't you paying attention!"

:D

Are you truly that stupid? The show has caught the book and is moving into uncharted territory. Look back through this thread and ask someone to sound out the big words for you. It's filled with TV series casting news and none of it viewed as a spoiler. But if that's what gives your life meaning, report away.

Not only does no one ever see him die or suffer an injury, but he's holding a wooden sword and Trant a steel sword when Arya escapes. As she's running away there's a sound of a man shouting in pain and a steel sword hitting the ground. So unless Syrio disarmed Trant and still managed to die, he's alive.

Is this a reference to h2g2 that i'm not getting? Because the jokes and sarcasm train seems to have left the station without you.

They were chained up since the incident.
Still?!

I hope everyone knows they need food and hugs.

a broken wooden sword, more like just a hilt

People aren't asking "Is Jon Snow dead" because he was totally killed. The question asked, the one none of the show people are willing to answer, is "Will he come BACK from the dead?". Seeing as how A: It's happened in GoT and B: the woman responsible for it just happened to stroll into castle black leaves people questioning.

If they wanted to put an end to it they wouldn't say that, they would say the actor isn't returning to the show or something more definitive. They know damned well the popular theory for him hanging around is resurrection, and saying he died doesn't say anything at all.

They just want fans kicking the can more.

Exactly, they know that the very popular fan expectation is for the dead Jon Snow to be revived (something already established as possible). They deliberately chose to not address this. Call me a fanboy but as far as I'm concerned this is just more striking evidence that he's going to be coming back.

I was hoping Syrio would return until the twitter exchange between the two actors playing Syrio and Meryn.

Budget concerns, show runners accounting for mainstream viewer's limited ability to maintain a grip on what's happening in the show and the 10 episodes per season limit played their part not just in Syrio's demise but with other show events as well.

Poll the typical HBO subscriber and he is likely unaware that there have been at least two "Mountain" actors, that the actor playing Tommen played another Lannister child character that was killed in season 3 or even that Daario Naharis was played by two different actors.

Hoping the show won't suffer from clashing between creators and HBO authorities as the show is pushed to go 8 seasons or even longer. 12 or 14 episodes per season for a total of 7 seasons would have worked out better for several reasons.

Sure, but let's be realistic. This show is absolutely huge in scale and there's only so much they can do in a year. ~10 hours a year of this quality of footage is a tremendous investment in time and resources.

If they didn't have to film everything on location it wouldn't be so bad.

Or they changed it so that Mance was disguised as Jon instead of the boy. Therefor Mance is now actually dead and Jon is somewhere else.

news updates:
1) mother of dragons hasn't done a nude scene since season 3.

all those titties u see of her since then has been a body double.
and I guess cgi?

2) john snow is contracted to GoT till his early 30s.
so he gets paid for season 6. whether or not he'll be seen in Season 6 is another story...

Supposedly he's been seen all over Northern Ireland where his part of the storyline has been filming. Unless he's there to play golf at the same they're shooting purely by coincidence it's a safe bet he'll be in season 6.

ah.. good news.
but that still doesn't answer if he's alive in season 6.

burial scene?
flash backs?

Both possible of course. Supposedly they cast a young Ned Stark for a flashback and could surely do flashbacks for Jon too. But I'm not buying that for a second. It's just too damn convenient that Melisandre shows up at Castle Black right before Jon gets whacked. They didn't have a scene with Melisandre talking to Thoros about raising the dead for nothing. It's Chekhov's Gun, that was a set-up and now she's got to do it.
