Well, I do recall the Jamie/Cersei rape causing a hoopla at least as big, but this time it wasn't even rape and yet we get senators calling for boycotts.

Even if it was indisputably rape:
Rapes happen. Bad stuff happens. What's wrong with a fictional show that depicts bad stuff happening? Is it all supposed to be flowers and happy happy gumdrop factories?! You can't tell a story that involves bad stuff happening? Why the Hell not?!

I think it's more the fact that the writers keep on going to rape over and over as a plot device, or hell -- even showing random red shirts in the background getting raped. it doesn't bother me personally, but I can't argue when I hear female GoT fans complaining about how rape-y the show is.

hell, is there a major living female character on the show who hasn't been subject to "non-consensual sex" other than Arya and Brienne?

As far as the show depicting rapes, there is a bit more than Jaime and Cersei: Craster's Keep, Sansa's near rape in Fleabottom, Joffery forcefully sodomizing the prostitutes, etc.

Holy fuck everyone is god damn stupid.

what fucking show have they been watching for 5 years? where was the outcry when sansa was nearly gang raped in the alley in king's landing? or when joffrey threatened to rape her at her first wedding? at least those would have been actually rape and ramsay, while terrible, was not.

And while the show is based on a book series, neither this scene, or another rape scene from earlier in the season, were featured in the books.

the daily fail as usual. the scene does indeed take place, but the woman is not sansa - she does not appear in the the show. and there was no other rape scene this season.

if this senator and any other bullshitter had read the books, there would be absolutely nothing said about that version of ramsay's wedding night, which is even worse.

Murder? NO problem
Skinning a man alive? No problem
Peeling the sking away from a mans fingers thenchopping off others followed by castration? No problem
Raping all your daughters and giving your boys children to the white walkers? No problem
Chopping off body parts? No problem
Murdering a pregnant woman by stabbing her in the belly? No problem.
Having a large attractive man repeated rape a teenager who was traded as property by her brother? No problem
A girl consenting to a marriage to an unpopular character and consenting to consummation winces in the last 10 seconds of a scene on the wedding night? UPROAR!!!!

It's one thing to complain about the show being generally "rape-y." It's another thing to call something that isn't rape, "rape." It's yet another level of stupidity to let the non-rape be the rape-straw that broke the rape-camel's back. It's like all the idiots who jumped to the misguided cause of Michael Brown.

The actress that plays the new Myrcella is only 17 so give it a year and then I will watch that video.... ;)

17.. and?
Jessica biel was 17 when she went topless.

also, that chick from American beauty was also 17 when she went topless.

hell, that chick from pretty baby was 13 when she did full nude
but that was in the 70s when it was more acceptable?

America has gotten MORE prudish as time went by?

since the 60's and 70's, yes it certainly has. any amount or severity of terrible thing is perfectly fine, except the human body not covered by postage stamp-sized pieces of cloth. at some point it became ok to have nude children in magazines and film (nudists playing volleyball, wtf?).

i remember when pbs and uhf channels would show nudity without uproar, because:

1. it was foreign (benny hill, french movies)
2. nobody cared
3. nobody watched

If some senator is too overwhelmed with their slanted feelings to keep watching the show because of one scene that's their prerogative. What's more insufferable is the angry horde writing clickbait articles about how significant their outrage while acting like self-styled gatekeepers for what is and isn't okay for this show.

The furor over this kind of reminds me of the stuff that we've seen about video games. I've seen some comments that suggest that the scenes in Game of Thrones desensitize people to rape just like video games have been proposed to do with violence. The biggest problem with either of those points is that it's speculation presented as fact... especially when they contain absolutely no scientific research/backing.

Honestly, I've been finding our culture to be a bit too touchy as of late. It seems that we've got this incredibly loud, vocal minority that just craves something to make a stink about.

pretty sure they were saying that to become no one you must be able to convince people that you are anyone. There may also be something like faking their death to truly move on and become "no one" (faceless).

I think the point of all of Arya's scenes in this episode was that she (and most other people in Westeros) has the wrong idea about the faceless men. They are not faceless because they impersonate other people, they are faceless because their face is not in the hall of faces. They are not dead and can still affect things.
I'm betting that starting in the next few episodes we are going to get a lot of faceless men philosophy that deals around their ideas of death, depression, and overcoming adversity.
Arya is going to be taught that life demands that she stop passively hoping for something and get proactive about causing whatever it is she wants to happen.

Those Bolton/Stark dudes were in the process of raping Brienne before Jamie convinced them not to proceed.

I dont think they showed bare boobies, at least not in the US. My mom wouldnt have let me watch it if they did.

You must recall that in the 70s/early 80s Benny Hill boobies was about as good as it got for us young bucks, limited to the increasingly rare access to print media that was the sum total of porn for us.

Now consider that, today, you would never see anything like Benny Hill being broadcast in the US.

have senators weighed in on "The Human Centipede" or "Tusk"?

because both of those are worse then anything GOT has done

I too am somewhat surprised at all the furor over the Sansa wedding night scene.

I thought it was actually pretty tame by Game of Thrones standards. Maybe that's not a good thing, but IMO there have been a lot more ugly scenes in this series than this one.

Sure, if this was the only ugly scene in the whole series, I could see people getting all riled up about it, but in the context of GoT, it's no surprise. In fact, when I saw the end, I was actually a bit more surprised it wasn't more gruesome, given GoT's history.

Well, The Human Centipede is just plain bad. Or what I saw of it was bad. I watched about two-thirds of it before giving up from boredom and because of the horrible acting.

Haven't seen Tusk.

That is exactly what Sansa is going through.
Her decision to go back to Winterfell and marry Ramsay is about being proactive. Even if it is Littlefinger manipulating her into making that desicion, she believes it to be her own.

Both Stark girls are going to do things they don't want to do in order get to the goal.

I think that the current internet phrase of the month ('Rape-Culture' as being pushed by feminist blogs and now being added to list of topics in the general media) is driving this current "outrage".

They ignore everything about the plot, miss all the cues in the scene.

As a senator, she felt like she needed to make sure she was on the right bandwagon. Come election time, everyone will remember something about a talking point on protecting women and Game of thrones patriarchy and how Sansa start doesn't earn as much as Roose Bolton
