Here are a few lines from the book I found on a site that calls Mirri a hero for killing Drogo and the baby because it saved the lives of thousands of innocent people that would have suffered their wrath and destruction.

The bolded part is key.

The bolded part kind of specific regarding her targeting the kid. However, the last part really shows that she really cherished life and would have completely sold out on revenge for her village to stay on as on of Dani's girls by saving Drogo.

As I said, without a POV or Martin specifically saying, it isn't far fetched to see how people could see Mirri and her actions differently. Preslove is just a tool.
He'd probably argue that jon is actually baby aegon and gregor killed a replacement.

QFT...seems like many above are illiterate and unable to comprehend basic television. It's sad really, worse are those then going into some long winded explaination that exists only in their own mind.

Thanks, thats the exact passage I was going to quote. She was pissed, and she took it out on the Khal, and more importantly, killed the next generation of them as well. Preslove, does that really sound like a woman looking to help? :rolleye

edit: and dont forget it was prophesized (book spoiler)
she was going to be betrayed 3 times. mirri maz was the first (dany trusted her and she betrayed her), jorah the second, and 3rd pending). dany directly considers what mirri did as a betrayal, so even the character recognizes it was deceit and not benevolence.

started watching ep10. the witch admits harboring ill feeling for dragos men raping her at multiple times, and burning her temple, and killed the poeple she saved.

thats leads me to believe that when she first treated Dragos wound, it was to infect him even more to kill him

and i saw the whore the imp bought (shae) in a video getting her ass reamed HARD

wow.. 1st traci lords, now her in a major

The actress that plays Shae is well known in Europe. And she had a big porn career before making it big.

There was a huge controversy when some German magazine pointed out her porn past. Unlike American media stuff like that isn't considered 'right'

A pity she kept herself covered in that long scene with Tyrion and the mercenary inside the tent.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone else get bothered by how this show (and any other TV show/movie with nudity for that matter) tends to display penises very clearly and shamelessly, and yet when it comes to women, you never (sometimes barely) get a glimpse of their slit.

As someone who is more attracted to the lower half of a female’s body, I find that really annoying.

Downloaded my copy of A Dance with Dragons this morning - ready to find out if the wait has been worth it.

Well she plays a whore in the show so I guess this part would fit her well then.

Pissed that audible has made this 2 credits. Yeah I know it's 49 hours long but so many other 40+ hour books are 1 credit.

how did Robb's army of 18k men defeat Jamie Lannister's army of 30k men? (jamie's dad gave him 1/2 of his 60k army)

I haven't seen the TV show but the book makes it clear.

In order to besiege Riverrun you have to split your army in thirds to place one on each shore since Riverrun sits at the junction of two rivers.

That allowed Rob to pick them off one at a time.

I think they actually attacked one of the three and perhaps the second, but I believe the third group packed up and left knowing they would lose.

Game of Thrones gets 13 Emmy nominations

The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning and Game of Thrones was nominated 13 times! The biggest of which was being nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Also Peter Dinklage was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Awesome, and go Peter Dinklage! Tyrion rocks. :)

Someone needs to make a Peter Dinklage "Safety Dance" video

Since the original video included the dwarf and all.

I am almost finished with book 3 and I am not very happy with the people he killed off in this book.

Running out of people to cheer for as it were. Will be interesting to see where he goes with this in book 4 & 5. But I wasn't too happy when I put the book down last night.

And the one character you want to see die had a rather boring death. Can think of a few dozen other ways I would have liked to have seen him die.

I'm about 100 pages in right now to book 3. All Ive heard is people either love what happens, or just put it down and walk away. Very polarizing.

I think Martin secretly hates his fans.

He keeps killing off the characters that we like while leaving the assholes alive. Even worse he takes a character that you want to hate and turns them into someone who you actually like.

Then there is the treatment of Tyrion, the best character in the book, who suffers through one bad thing after another.

It is like he is intentionally turning the typical idea of heros and villains upside down just for spite.

And then there is the whole 5 years between books 3 & 4 and 6 years before book 5. And we still have two more books to go??? I think he wants to draw this out as long as he can and then die right before the last book is publish. And he last wish will be to destroy all his unpublished works ala Nabokov or Kafka.

In the end it is great reading and great story telling. But I do wonder if he is trying to push people to their breaking point just to see if they will stay or not.

I think it keeps the book engaging.

I never worried about Harry's safety while reading the Harry Potter books.
