i get all that. Like I am saying you don't.
it is what it is. Instead you want to be difficult.
To each their own.

Book 5 gets better. I found the introduction of characters in 4 and 5 to be annoying at this point in the series.
What by ending with a bunch of cliffhangers?Book 5 gets better.

Victarion was the saving grace of that book. He gets half way around the wold in two chapters. He is also brutally entertaining. Finally,he's the one who is going to get the plot and Dany moving.

I've been stuck on Book 4 for over a year now after breezing through the first 3 in just a couple weeks.
The new characters is what is really throwing me off, and it has lost my interest. I need to pick the book back up one of these days and force myself to get through it so I can finally read book 5.

You know, 4 and 5 are really the same book?
Basically, 5 has the characters who are in Westeros, and 4 has all the rest like Danries, Mormont, etc..
this thread is turning more annoying to read/possibly spoiler filled than the walking dead one did.
Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how the show's audience will handle the book's... aptitude for leaving characters midway through development and onto others.
It's actually very annoying, which is why the latest book was quite the chore to read.
Might as well change the name from Game of Thrones to Tyrion's Tales..He's the only damn character that feels invincible to me, like there's no way Martin is going to kill him
What do some of you experts think?
The very popular theory is that...
Jon is the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar
Okay good. So I am not the only one.
There are other possible theories as well. Some are discussed on the Ice and Fire wiki here:

Before I click, I am only just finished book 4. Is it too soon to start snooping?

The first was winning over Mr. Martin in a lunchtime meeting that was mostly collegial, but where Mr. Weiss and Mr. Benioff were quizzed about the parents of Jon Snow, a “Game of Thrones” character of mysterious lineage. (“We had a whole conversation about it,” Mr. Benioff said, “and George was pleased that we got the answer right.”
great episode.
the crowd tore an arm off some guy ( a priest or something ). was he important in the books?

I kind of wonder ifJon and Dany may end up married and ruling together. I feel sure that Lyanna is Jon's mother. Not so sure that Rhaegar is the father (there has been too much emphasis on Jon's Stark -possibly Baratheon?- features as opposed to the emphasis placed on Dany's Targaryen features). Either way it would work, I think. It unites the dragons with the Night's Watch to oppose the others. If Jon is Targaryen, it fits the theme of them marrying brother to sister. If he is Baratheon or [...], it could still be seen as re-unifying Westeros by joining the re-established Targaryen (Dany) with the old ruling force (Jon).
Have you read ADwD?At this point I think Dany will be paired with a certain someone who makes a debut in that book.
