Ned's your fave character? I think he's pretty stupid, always doing the honorable thing without regard for the consequences. His daughters wouldn't be in deep shit if not for his dumb ass. He should be executed for being such a moron.

The honorable way is the ONLY right way.... to compromise oneself for the easy or darker path is retarded..

I'm sorry id like to think there are more people in the world like Ned that wouldn't compromise their ethics just for the easier path if its wrong..

I'd avoid wiki'ing Ned's future then...it's libel to piss you off. I don't think as many above have really read the story as are just googling it.

Either way I am used to the non-happy ending stuff. There are some interesting twists and trysts in store...one very wicked witch ends up created as the magic of the land they live becomes more and more real.

I LOVE this part, it's like they are throwing a nod toward Mandy Patinkin's character Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, how cool would that have been if they actually casted him!?

Yeah, it really reminded me of him. Pure awesomeness!

Started rereading the books yesterday. Hopefully will be ready when DWD comes out next month.

You'll see him again, at least if the show makes it to season 3 (or 4? I forget).

I think at the end of the first book, they mention something about how the Queen or Joffrey sent a couple guards after him to stop him and bring him back, but he easily cut them down and made his escape from Kings Landing.

He's ethical alright, but still stupid.
He could have sent his daughters to Winterfell or brought more men from there before stirring shit. Did he really think Cersei would take her kids and meekly retreat to Casterly Rock, leaving the throne to Stannis just because he told her he knew they weren't Robert's sons? His family is in deep shit now, and he's mostly to blame.

What does that have to do with anything?

On another note, they haven't shown Walder Frey yet, but he should have been played by oldsmoboat.

Ned is honorable to a fault. That's what makes the character interesting but he still owned himself.

He also trusted too many people he shouldn't have. Littlefinger is a total slimeball but old Ned thought he had his back over a verbal agreement?

Yeh he was pretty blind if he didn't see that coming.. Littlefinger wants Neds wife so bad and power he will do anything to have both..
and I agree that he should have sent for his families and allies armies.. but they said earlier in the series it was a months ride from Winterfell to Kings landing.. all the stuff that happened happened much too fast..
Robert went on the hunt and within (days?) died of the wounds. Ned didn't have time to call for help.. and sure as hell didn't want Geoffery to take the throne knowing either way his family and the Kingdom were doomed if it were to happen.

I can't wait to have ADWD on my hands. Though I just realized A Feast for Crows was published 6 years ago, no wonder I've forgotten so many things about the story.

Stop watching now, it doesn't get any better. Lots and lots and lots of deaths still to come, both the good guys and bad guys have a low life expectancy.

And Tyrion's, too.
Doesn't sound so bad!

Tyrion is awesome and should never be grouped with Joffery. Well, at least he is awesome as far as I have read.
I am about 150 pages into book 2
. He is extremely intelligent and has an awesome cynical sense of humor. He is definitely my favorite character now, followed closely by Jon. It seems Tyrion is loyal to his family name, yet is very much honorable in his own way unlike every other Lannister.
