There is only one clear answer: make 3 threads.

Game of Thrones - HBO TV Series - Book Readers Only
Game of Thrones - HBO TV Series - Non-Readers Only
Game of Thrones - HBO TV Series - Book Readers up to the point of the show Only

Stop whining, you stupid fucking baby. If you care so much about spoilers GTFO!

If no one says anything many more people will read it. Stop defending the indefensible. Read THE TITLE OF THE DAMNED THREAD.

Someone should say something, I did, and this is how you respond?

There is no such thing as a season 3 spoiler now because when it was posted season 3 was over.

Once again, that doesn't change the fact that this thread is about the TV series and that people give courtesy spoilers for recent episodes of the show ANYWAY. What part of that don't you understand? I have no control over what they do. If the post wasn't for us who are current with the show then we had no way to know. That is the problem. If it were along the lines of "yes, such and such a thing happened in the show but [spoilertag]" I would have had ZERO complaints.

may need to split game of thrones threads into *TV SHOW ONLY NO BOOK DISCUSSION OF ANY KIND FOR ILLITERATI ONLY* and *GAME OF THRONES THREAD FOR SUPERIOR LITERATE MASTER RACE*

I think we should have at least two threads: Book Readers and TV Show Only (the book readers who are only up to position in the show can go in the Book Readers thread at their own risk). Seriously, the last few pages of this are people either, A. arguing about spoilers, or B. completely redacted posts that are nothing but spoilers. As someone who enjoys the show and has no intention of reading the book, I'd personally appreciate a venue where I can have a discussion without being replied to with a bunch of posts I can't read because they're telling me something I don't want to know in advance.

Well, the context of DesiPower's post *did* make it seem like he was concealing a detail from the season 3 finale; which should have been safe for me to read since I've seen every episode. Unfortunately, it was a huge spoiler from the book.
Just finished watching season 3...
Here's some observation about what i just watched-FUCK YOU HUGE BOOK SPOILER!!!

:(

[moved to next page]

At the end of the day you read a spoiler in a thread about Game of Thrones that was posted after the last episode aired. He could have presented it better, but you still read a spoiler after the last episode.

So start the other one up and see what happens.

This one will continue to be the one about the tv show, including any talk about whatever has just aired. Book spoilers are in the spoiler tags.

No matter what rules you set up, the nature of the forums will mean there are implementation issues.

I know the books aren't written yet, but this has to end with Stannis on the Iron Throne, and Kahleesi controlling the islands to the east, right? Tywin is going to be killed, Jaime has no interest in war later in the books, Rob's dead, Renly's dead, Ned Stark is dead, Cercei is going to be in dire straights, Joffrey's going to be dead. Who's left? I figure the Kahleesi ends up too bogged down with obligations over in her part of the world and feels an obligation to stay and rule over there, leaving no one to challenge Stannis.

Hodor will assume the Iron Throne after it's revealed that he is the last Targaryen (descended from Old Nan and Daeron II), and Aegon dies from an infected hangnail and Daenerys after falling down some stairs.

Just remember, I called it first.

I think the ending will be Danaerys and Jon Snow (who is Azor Ahai(spelling?) reborn, not stannis, and will be saved by Melisandre and granted the name Stark) as king and queen. Bran will die a hero's death. Rickon will grow to become Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the north. Arya will likely become dead at some point taking out numerous people with her. Catelyn will probably live in zombie form long enough to kill the crap out of Cersei. Jamie will redeem himself with some heroic act. Tyrion (or Bran), Dany, and John Snow will be the "Three heads of the Dragon."

Also, I love this.

this is what I tried to point out. This happened, we actually have 2 threads if you search. Now, the other one is not about the TV show, it is just about books and since books are taking 5+ years to come out, that thread died.

So this is what evolved, 1 thread with all spoilers about future events(from books) in spoiler tags.

I had never read the books until the first season of GOT was over. I can tell you that the first year in this thread, I didn't read any of the spoilers no matter what until I finished the books. Mods are welcome to do whatever, but I think even if things were split, it is most safe to not read any spoiler posts unless you have read the books.

I know I have tried to always be on the safe side and put stuff that isn't really spoilers in the tags just so I don't upset anyone and I feel I label them well enough.

What I've seen elsewhere is people indicate what they're spoling, e.g. [book 4 spoiler]
Samwell marries Arya

As it is, you can't be safe reading spoilers in this thread unless you've read all of the books, but some people are past the point in the books that the third season covered but not all the way through all of them.

Do not read unless you have read A Dance With Dragons
Don't forget the Greyjoys. Euron has a horn that can control dragons, Victarion a red priest and a fleet, and Asha and Theon are 'guests' of Stannis so you never know how that will turn out.

I think somehow the Greyjoys will get folded into the nebulous "north" faction, at least temporarily. They're not close to being powerful enough to accomplish anything on their own other than being a thorn in the side of the bigger players. Again, I'm still working on the assumption that GRRM HAS to simplify and pare down the factions so that only 2 or 3 go to the end. The Greyjoys will have to align with somebody else and likely betray them in the end.

I think it is certainly a possibility that Westeros is not united at the end. It never was one kingdom until the Targaryen killed enough people that they were forced to live under one king. Becuase truthfully, Dani is not the rightful ruler, she is only next in line becuase a few hundred years ago, someone started a war to become the ruler. Rightfully, there is no 1 kingdom. I would like to see the kingdoms become split again for endgame.

White walkers, Iron Islands.

Also that isn't a spoiler if you have no idea what's going to happen, it's a guess. Despite what I posted above I think they will align with someone.

But if "winter is coming", the iron islands may turn out to be iron bumps in a solid plate of ice :)

I heard Snape killed Dumbledore

Oh wait did I spoiler that for people who did not read the books but watched the films?

I am reminded of how for a period of 3 years I avoided ALL news/forums/and conversations related to Revenge of the Sith so I could have a spoiler free movie experience.

For those who want NO spoilers, get the hell out of this thread and stop discussing it. Spoilers WILL happen by people who are adding to the discussion (such as why this character isn't in there, or what happened to this scene or whatever).

Melisandre, the leeches,
"Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy, Joffrey Bratheon."
She already spoiled it several episodes ago in the TV show.

The whole spoiling issue is further complicated by book readers watching and comparing the show (as mentioned the book-only thread dies because of the time in-between books), as well as people reading concurrent with the show.

I try to remember to label spoilers that would spoil for concurrent book readers (i.e: ADWD
spoiler
), but I've always assumed anything in a spoiler tag is something from the books, concerning events future from the latest aired episode.

That said, any show events up to latest aired episode should be fair game, imo. That includes if the episode just ended. So non-readers should simply avoid this thread until after they've viewed the latest episode. In that regard, they're certainly best off avoiding anything and everything in a spoiler tag from now until next season.

Also theories, so long as they're based only on events revealed in the show, don't need to be tagged. Seen a couple/few of those and it's just not really necessary.

was it worth it all to discover that Anakin Skywalker was really Darth Vadar all along?

True, there doesn't have to be one winner. But....

Winter is coming and so are The Others. That HAS to be dealt with, they're not going to hang around waiting for everything south of the wall to sort itself out. And while there doesn't necessarily have to be one winner I think there will be. If the kingdom remains splintered and still manages to defeat both the threat from north of the wall and Daenerys and her dragons then neither of those things was much of a threat in the first place and the whole thing is rather anticlimactic. Westeros has to be patched back up, at least short term so that the parties can work together to face the larger, more dangerous threats. WTF is the point of having dragons and armies of undead if they're not game changers? What happens afterward is not all that important, maybe they will decide to keep the north and the south as separate entities and maybe there will be further splits so that 5 or 6 smaller kingdoms arise LATER. But there has to be some sort of reconciliation first so that the bigger picture can resolve.

But if "winter is coming", the iron islands may turn out to be iron bumps in a solid plate of ice :)

There's that.

There's also the point that the ironborn are not content to sit on a god-forsaken pile of rocks and let everyone else fight for real power and control of the mainland. If they were willing to do that they'd be doing it already. They're trying to grab their slice of the pie and that's not going to change. Can they win the Iron Throne alone? Not a chance. And if they sit around hoping for the White Walkers to wipe out Westeros for them there's nothing left to rule over but a wasteland filled with an even greater force they can't defeat alone.

Honestly, as someone who's never read any of the books, a lot of the "spoilers" I've read here from the book readers just make me scratch my head. It's like if someone told you the sky was going to turn green tomorrow, but didn't tell you how.

So honestly I'd go so far as to say GOT is typically spoiler-proof. Never mind the possibility that the show will further diverge from the book plot in the first place.
